Also notice Neal coming off the Al screen for what would have been a wide open three and notice Cliff's reaction.

They say the play was designed for Lance but it looks like he was supposed to hit Neal in rhythm for the shot.

Clifford isn't used to having superstar(s). Sometime, you just gotta sit back and let your star players do what God blessed them to do; God given talents.

In all seriousness it can't be easy for him to play new guys over the guys he knows and coached last year, but I applaud him for making the changes so soon. That, as much as anything has turned things around.

Lance is not a superstar. He is a very good all around player though.

 

Lance is all-star caliber right now. And by caliber I mean he may make it, he may not. But, he'll be in the conversation.

 

Superstar? You're right. Not yet. He's got an offensive game that could become Derrick Rose-esque and a defensive game that could become Ron Artest-esque. He's got the physical tools to get both of those things done.

 

Everyone has to remember Lance just turned 24 in September, he's really really young.

 

Right now, he's our Tony Allen but with a more prolific offensive game. When the Grizzlies got Tony Allen, it's really what propelled them to a Western Conference Final. That's what he is right now.

 

In 3-4 years? I see him being a max contract superstar if he can stay healthy and continue to mature. He's your classic Rucker Park, NY style baller. Mean, charismatic, and fiery. And yeah like you said very good all around player.

Cliff said in the post game that the play was designed for Lance to drive to the hoop. The defense made a good switch and he took the shot. Cliff said he made the right decision based on the call and the defense but I see your point about Neal. Still there was less than 2 seconds when he made his decision. That's tough.

One of my favorite things to do after big moments like this is blow it up on my PC screen and scan the audience. There are always a few fans: Hands on head guy, already celebrating guy, already sulking guy, guy with beer belly exposed, woman gasping with hand in front of mouth, and guy yelling "nooooooo".

 

 

The players have great reactions too. Cody looks relieved, Big Al looks like he believed all along, Bismack looks like he just saw his first pair of boobs, PJ looks like his professor just asked him to turn in his homework, and MKG looks like he needs the ball to go in more than anything on the planet.

 

Then there is this woman that looks like Julia Louis Dreyfus from Seinfeld and when the ball goes in she puts on her O face. The Black guy next to her looks unimpressed.

 

Kudos to the guy in the green Lance Stephenson jersey completely losing it behind the backboard. You can see all of this around the 1:15

Because the play was designed for Lance to drive to the basket. Lance made the right decision because the shot went in... LOL

Jordan ' s reaction was muted too, like he was happy Lance made the shot but was wondering WTF.

      It will be really interesting to see how both sides handle this. I'm sure the team would love to get him signed to a 4 year deal based on his output so far and some potential factored in, i.e. something like a 4 year $30 million contract.  But I could see his agent telling him the best path is to take the one year offer, put up a big year next year and then really cash in. The team also has to keep in mind T-Mac's 2nd contract, which likely will happen after the 2027 season assuming he keeps improving as expected.  Even if we could get him on a budget 4 year deal for what he could become, the problem then becomes when he wants to re-negotiate in 2 years during the same summer we will extend T-Mac, and you don't want to spend that much on WRs in one offseason, just see the Bengals this last year. Taking everything into consideration, I'm thinking the 1 year deal and then getting him to sign a 4-5 year deal after hopefully say a 800ish yard season next year might be best for our cap situation and separate his and T-Mac's negotiation periods.

      And yet jax made it no further than we did, and its very possible the Pats don't either. I think it speaks more to the overall down year for the nfl as far as having great/dominant teams, every team this year has fatal flaws that can be exploited

      Ehhh I agree the nfc is stronger this year but their really werent any truly dominant teams this year everyone is flawed, I think the narrative for the NFL this year will to try ahd force a Josh Allen SB win
