3-4 next year anyone?

Since we are getting rid of our best Pass rushing DE anyway.

Pass rushing 3-4 LB seem easier to find then Elite 4-3 ends. Star (who IMO lost weight to be a better pass rushers this off season which I think hurt his run stopping ability) could put his weight back on and play NT. Then Short and CJ can play DE in 3-4 not a bad fit for either. TD and Luke in the middle would be great. You could even put TD as one of the 3-4 outside backers. He is the same size and weight as James Harrison.

Finally Ron and McDermott are well versed in the 3-4. So we wouldn't need a major coaching change.

IMO we could make a smooth transition to a 3-4 if we needed to.

Klein might work there, but I think Blackburn would be better.  ILBs need to be even better at shedding blockers than MLBs.  Klein has velcro on when a blocker gets their hands on him.

3-4 OLBs that can rush and cover well are equally hard to find as DEs that can rush and defend the run well.  A 3-4 OLB that is just good at rushing is easier to find than a DE that's just good at rushing.  IMO.

That is an intriguing front 7 though, chuck.  Not sure we'd have the $$$ for Raji, but cutting CJ and Deangelo with one as a June 1st, it might fit.

How crazy would it be if Ron actually did decide to switch to a 3-4, but kept it under wraps and they drafted Beasley or some other 3-4 OLB in the 1st thereby dropping the bomb of the switch.  Hilarity would ensue.
