What sort of rage is unleashed if Olsen isn't retained?

Hed net us a 3rd round comp pick we could use on another athletic tight end in his mold or hell something else and grab one earlier. Not saying it wouldnt be a big loss but the world wouldnt end by any means.

Was waiting for someone to suggest this or I'd even go as far as saying I'd open to trading him for the right price this offseason.

Lol we hate this team for keeping players too often. Now the GM is getting crucified for letting players go. This fanbase can be laughable at times.

Exactly, If we signed Olsen to a big contract at 30 we'd be doing exactly what we're all mad about right now with these other contracts. I love Olsen and was a huge fan of his when he was in college but personal feelings aside, it wouldn't hurt to explore the market this offseason. He lacks in the blocking game, doesn't add much in the YAC department and is losing the speed to get separation. All those things are just going to get worse as he gets older. He is however a very reliable pass catcher and you should never take those for granted, but if we can find a young athletic TE for the fraction of the price I think it'd be smart to go that way.

Olsen is averaging more YAC per catch than tight ends like Graham and Julius Thomas and is 4th overall in YAC. I'd love to hear your measurement you used to determine he is losing speed to get separation. Is it the fact he's averaging more YAC per catch than he has since 2010?

You need to take off the glasses If you honestly think Olsen is better than JT and JG after the catch. You can't just go off a stat like that because you don't know where on the field those guys caught the ball.

We also run screen plays for Olsen, I'd love for those to start going to Brandon Williams.

So you'll make excuses for other players lack of YAC but Olsen doesn't get the same benefit. Can I get a list of players you'll use logical excuses for and ones you won't? This way I know which players to even bother having a discussion about.

Doesn't TD's cap number fall dramatically after 2015, or is that just some cap space mumbo jumbo that I don't understand? If so, it might be worth keeping him next season just to get some cap friendly seasons from him afterwards.

For all practical purposes 2015 is the last year of TD's contract. 2016, 2017, and 2018 are voidable years (voidable by the player). They are pretty much dummy years to help spread out cap cost. Nobody expects TD to play for $1m a year, DG included.

In theory TD can void his contract after 2015, which he should, and we would still be responsible for $3m in dead money. The very fact that we have several of our players with voidable years built into their contracts is just further evidence of how big of a mess our cap was in.

We have been a "soft" FO for a very long time, I feel that time is drawing to an end.

I want to see Davis leave here with the Panthers being the only team he ever plays for, but that's tough to do these days.

CJ, Kalil, and TD are going to, at some point, be too expensive to keep around.  Just the way it is in today's NFL.

They can get rid of CJ,ever since he got that big contract,he has been unproductive!
