With the Panthers and Cam Newton. Pretty funny actually. Also likes to bring up how the Panthers let Smitty go. Which is hilarious because he use to talk mad poo about him, but when Smitty would be in studio he would suck him off. I wonder how long until he mentions this thread.

That guy is as sleazy as they come. While we all have flaws, it boggles the mind how two faced this guy is/was. I don't know how someone can sleep at night talking one way to a man's face, then another behind his back, on a routine basis, all on public airwaves/the net. He seems the type whose time on earth will pass someday like everyone in this life, and whom no one will remember or remember as anything other than a Master Douche. Sad.

letting steve smith go wasnt as bad as u guys think. Smith avgs 4 catches a game.  Thats ok but nothing stellar.

Yup

Steve was unwilling to renegotiate his deal (I wouldn't either at 35) and keeping him would have cost this franchise dearly.  People ignore that part.  Smith knows how to draw attention to himself and make people think he is actually better than he is.  Look at his numbers.  He had one of the lowest yardage per target rates in the NFL, and had 740 yards last year.

And his attitude was detrimental to young WRs.  He was a dick, basically.  No WR ever prospered here who was signed or drafted after Smitty was.  I think the number who tried is around 35.

the cap scenarios have been laid out pretty clearly in a bunch of threads.  it usually falls on deaf ears though.

it makes me think of a politician who can stand on the soapbox and give an energetic, rabble rousing, but ultimately simplistic speech on a populist issue that gets the audience fired up.  it doesn't matter that a lot of very real, very serious factors don't square with what they're saying because it's emotionally resonant and stirring which is why it's effective.

Did you see that game winning 80 yard td he had called back against Cincinnati due to a bogus offensive pass interference call? You may be right about the cap savings being worth it as he is only getting older, but it is wrong to understate what we lost.

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
