No "Victory Monday" for Panthers. "Players are in there working," says Ron Rivera.

 

Rivera said this year's team is younger, so Panthers can't afford to take a day off.

 

It’s not a ‘victory Monday’ for #Panthers today. Usually players can peace out after team meetings after a win, but RR switching it up.

Rivera said #Panthers not looking at the end, but looking at the race.

 

Rivera praising O-line. Same group 2 weeks in a row for first time since October.

 

Rivera called it a "solid performance" over the Saints. Said Cam Newton was "exceptional."

 

Ron Rivera said Amini Silatolu will be out a while longer.

 

Rivera said the O-line will stay the same for Tampa Bay. Said Amini Silatolu had knee scoped.

 

“Amini’s going to be out a while.” Same O-line combo coming up vs Bucs.

Rivera still not willing to name Stewart RB starter.

 

Rivera said "we'll see'' when asked if DeAngelo Williams would be the starter if he returns. Also said "we'll see" on return. #Panthers

When asked why he is hesitant to name Stewart the starter, Rivera said "my preference."

 

Rivera, former player, likely doesn't want to say or do anything that would be viewed as a slight toward franchise's rushing leader.

 

Rivera said winning feels different. Says even the media treats him nicer. Guess we shouldn't ask about punt return coverage. #Panthers

Coaches film showed 8 dropped passes for Saints, which is pretty incredible.

Rivera says Panthers counted 5 QB hits and 4 pressures for DE Charles Johnson vs. #Saints.

 

Rivera said DE Charles Johnson deserved a couple of sacks. Hit QB five times. Likes the way he's played last four weeks.

 

Rivera high on Charles Johnson's play of late. Was very disruptive in New Orleans despite not officially recording a sack.

I'm hoping the comments by Rivera on the RB situation is just Rivera being coy and not revealing too much to the media.

 

if Williams starts next Sunday, Richardson should wake up, ride his golf cart to the field, grab a mic, b**** slap rivera, and fire him in front of 70,000.

Rivera says he didn't think Cam was taunting when he did his "Superman" celebration next to Cameron Jordan.

 

"It shows what we're capable of," Rivera on dominant victory against talented team. "Now we've just got to believe in it and build off it."

      So we cut him if we don't give him the option?  I'm pretty sure there are players who didn't get the 5th-year option that played year four of their rookie contracts with their draft team.

      I didn't say do nothing if we don't draft one in the 1st and I"m not counting on a FA to magically become a franchise QB. But signing a FA to be our starter for the year and then re-address the next offseason would be FAR better than reaching on the wrong QB in the 1st this offseason. Feeling we HAVE to find our long term solution just because we need a new QB is how we got into this mess.  We thought Two Gloves would be at worst an average level QB for a few years, that didn't happen, so we went out and traded for Darnold.  That didn't work so we went out and traded for Baker, that didn't work so we went out and traded up to get Bryce. Our last 4 QB moves were all trying to force a solution, none of them worked out, and we're still trying to find Cam's replacement all these years later.  We'd just have been better off spending a year or two building up the rest of the team and going year to year on FA QB's while doing so.  I get it, it will be frustrating to deal with, but then when you find that actual long term solution, they plug right into an already built out roster and you're ready to contend immediately.

      Great win, should be 3-0 but I'll take 2-1. LaMelo is an MVP caliber player, period.   This is looking like an incredible draft so far. Sion James looking like the exact type of role player that all contending teams need to have, absolute steal in the 2nd. Kalk is a work in progress and I question how much upside he has but he's already been a considerable upgrade at C for us compared to the last several years (outside of healthy Mark which of course was rare).   Really seems like new ownership/front office has change the culture here significantly. Every guy looks bought in now.
