League will vote in March to expand the playoff field from 12 to 14 teams in 2015

One formula that will be discussed in the offseason is that in addition to first-round byes for the teams with the best record in the AFC and NFC, two divisional champions in each conference will get home games and the remaining 8 teams will be seeded by win-loss record.

The playoff seeding idea has been tabled previously but proponents believe playoff expansion will provide a boost to change.

The winner of the NFC South this season will have an 8-8 record at best but will host a playoff game under the current seeding formula with rewards division champions.

This would eliminate any need for divisions besides preserving rivalries. The whole point of divisions is that you have 4 teams with nearly identical schedules. Therefore it is difficult to argue that the winner of a division isn't the best team.

What will happen is that you will have situations where a 9-7 teams gets the last playoff spot over an 8-8 team where they have almost no common games. With only 16 games it is much more difficult to see what teams are better. This type of thing really doesn't happen much in other sports.

So yeah I vote against it.

    • Well he quickly deflected the question about Rico's "almost 7 YPC." He is very polished and he transitioned well to non-answers and side steps. I can see why a guy like him was able to pull the wool over on guys like Tepper.
    • 31st rushing D and 8 carries by Rico is coaching.  Rico is easily the best offensive weapon right now and it’s not really close.  *literally everyone knows Dalton is washed, horrible and shouldn’t even be a backup QB.   Drive 1? ZERO carries.  Coaching.  Drive 2 - Rico was playing great.   Did Canales lean into that or go for “balance”? Coaching. Drive 3 - ZERO carries.  Coaching  Drive 4 - 1 carry and opted for Jimmy Horn gadget rush (you can’t stick  with the Horn repetitive gadget runs each week and that’s not a better idea than getting Rico going)  Drive 5 - basically Dalton heavy as the half expired.  I don’t need to watch a game to know it’s coaching.  The gameplan wasn’t about setting Rico up to go off on a trash rush D.  It was bullshit harmony balance of the rush and the pass and making Hubbard feel good.
    • In the locker room after the Dallas game, multiple  players said FEED him when Canales mentioned Rico stats. That already made me think even the locker room wouldn't care if Rico got the touches rn. This is on Canales indeed and I agree n the Qb take.  We aren't winning  bc of Bryce  but he has been managing it. Had the Jets had Qb aptitude,  we could've probably  lost that game too. All they would've needed is 14 points. Regardless, we got a team  that's being built up and that position needs an overhaul.  If ww lock in to Bryce, it'd be no different  than the 49ers locking into Purdy. Can't do it!
