Similarities between seasons and the teams themselves are there:

- Both the 04 and 14 teams started terribly, only to go on a late winning streak.

- Both teams lost a key member of the DL early in the season (Jenkins in 04, Hardy in 14).

- Both teams had to dig deep for competent RBs (Brandon Bennett with a TD in 04, Ogbonnaya with a TD in 14).

- Both teams were destroyed by the Eagles in Philadelphia.

- Both teams' passing attacks were bolstered by rookies (Colbert in 04, KB in 14).

- Both teams featured Ricky Proehl in a key support role (WR3 in 04, WR coach in 14)

- Both teams' secondaries included 3 young guns and a grizzled vet (Gamble/Manning/Branch/Minter in 04, Norman/Benwikere/Boston/Harper in 14).

- Both winning streaks included an early-December throttling of the Saints at the Superdome (31 points in 04, 41 points in 14)

- Both teams were Smitty-less.

The 04 team ended up surrendering 140 yards to Deuce McAllister at home en route to a heartbreaking 21-18 loss. Will history repeat itself next Sunday?

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
