More RB talk ( Tolbert Time)

I was really impressed with Fozzy Whitaker yesterday. He really reminded me a faster Fred Lane.

I am concerned that they are giving him plays where he follows pulling linemen but has to run parallel to the OL. Tolbert is not a "change direction" back, so don't ask him to run any way except where his shoulders are parallel with the LOS.

However, Tolbert is a veteran, very good at picking up blitzes. But, I agree, the production is not there.

How much can a short RB who is over weight actually endure in the NFL? Has it caught up to him? I think he may simply be rusty due to the injury, but he won't make the roster playing like he is now in 2015.

And that is my issue....we have Fozzy for that. Tolbert is being used as the #2 RB. He shouldn't be.

Tolbert needs to be the 1 yard straight FB and pass protector

I wouldn't mind getting a real FB next year. I'm not sure if it's feasible though.

Tolbert does have talent, we just don't take advantage of his skill set. He could be used as a big time threat out the backfield from the FB position. I would also like to see a quick hitting FB dive, like the Saints usually do.

 

One thing I don't understand though, is the infatuation with running toss, and sweep plays with Tolbert.

imo tolbert has always been at his best in the screen game. get him the ball with two blockers out front and a head of steam and some defensive back is going to have to sacrifice his soul to make a stop.
