Our defense is last in rush yards/play among playoff teams left

Among the playoff teams left, our defense is giving the most rush yds/play at 5.0. This is using december only games. The lowest is DAL at 2.6yds rush yds per play.

We played a bunch of pass happy teams in December so we played a lot of nickel. and Doug Martin had that long run for Tampa. These could be reasons for that?

GB played ATL and DET, two pass happy. We played ATL and NO. TB and CLE are not pass happy.

Everyone knows TB and CLE aren't pass happy. Saints ran for 5.4 yard a carry on us. And the bucs almost ran for 7 per carry cuz of that Doug Martin run. The other two games were under 4 per carry.

Take away doug Martin's run, and the bucs only ran 22 times for 88 yards... 4 per carry. it's crazy how one play can skew everything

We were not the only defense to play pass happy teams in Dec and no, it does not work like that, ie, take away this guy's long run and everything will be fine. Actually that should be what people should look at, teams being able to get that one big run against us.

I heard Chris Wesseling make this comment when I was watching one of the NFL's podcast. I went ahead and calculated it for myself and just thougt I would share. As with all stats, you can explain them in whichever way you want to. Considering how well we had played in DEC, I found it interesting.
