if Beason is not able to go and his return takes longer than expected, the early Bye will give us a chance to get healthy a lil earlier than normal..

i just remembered that i was a little bummed when the schedule came out but now it might play into our favor this year.. and it will also give whatever DT we sign/trade for an early week to do homework and play catch-up

Haven't thought about that but you're right. Although I was that upset with it at first anyways. The first 3 games, Philly, Atlanta and Dallas, I thought were a tuff strech and having that week off to prepare for a slightly more managable three games, Washington, Tampa and Arizona, and would allow the team to regroup if needed.

good point - it might be the difference in someone like godfrey going on IR and waiting out a month or so of the season and trying to make a go of it. although i guess no one really knows what the prognosis with him is at this point.

The way I see it, the weeks before the bye are the last weeks for some of our players as starters. If we are ineffective out of the gate, which is virtually assured given our injuries and the fact that we are switching to a new D-Coord's philosophy, then I expect we will use the bye week to make some personnel moves, and reorder the depth chart.

I'm not talking about Matt Moore taking over for Delhomme, nothing earth shattering. Stuff like Brown/Johnson over Brayton, Connor over Diggs, Barnidge over King, Teal over Godfrey (if Godrey ain't IR'd by then), etc.

    • Having trouble finding all these articles saying the Raiders withheld information. Here’s the latest from Crosby’s surgeon: ElAttrache told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday morning that Crosby was "doing very well in the early part of his rehab and recovery from surgery to treat a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee. He is certainly on track in his planned program." "We truly respect the work of the Ravens' staff with Maxx regarding the contract physical exam. We also understand the challenge the staff faces when tasked to provide a future risk assessment based on an evaluation early in the recovery process," ElAttrache said. "This is especially challenging when dealing with an elite player like Maxx considering the level of commitment necessary for a team to obtain him. The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear."     So the Ravens excuse is the future risk assessment based on the physical, not that the Raiders withheld information. They found an excuse to save face publicly. They had the right to cancel the trade for no reason at all, but they’re trying to save face with the most acceptable reasoning they can find. I’ve heard and seen the Ravens getting dragged everywhere for this. You know what would be an easy way to put a stop to that if you’re the Ravens and the Raiders were actually the shady ones withholding information? Just come out and say that you were not given all the medical information. But they aren’t saying that. I guess they’re just taking the bullet for the Raiders just because?    Speculation indeed.
    • Two first round picks for a guy with very questionable knees who will be 29 this summer. Yes it is safe to say the Ravens got cold feet.
    • The salary cap is the reason we got Phillips and Lloyd
