Carolina Huddle Magazine?

Honest advice:

You would have a hard time finding enough subscribers to keep it afloat.....UNLESS we see nip and vag on the kittens. As vulgar as it is, that is the truth. Nude kittens is sure to increase subscriptions by at least 300-400%, if not more (seriously). Obviously that would mean paying significantly more money to the models and it would sacrifice some unknown amount of "journalistic integrity" (hahahahhahahahaha), but given the fact that 95% of your target audience would be straight, football loving males (leaving room for Jase, GTG, Wino, and a couple other females) who frequent a message board full of vulgarities and scantily clad women I'd say it's a safe bet.

Well, I agree with a lot of the suggestions here. I know print is on its way out, but people will still buy if it satisfies a need. Huddle Kittens is a great idea, but I think including inside information and past player interviews and stories is even better (like where they are at now type of thing). Please consider adding the Canes to the list and make this a trifecta of Carolina sports, tons of people in Raleigh care about this most. You might even consider making it an ePublication through something like Zinio (to save the trees). This will cut down on production costs, of course you will still have to spend on advertising. I'm sure I've got some more ideas in here, just have to let the bourbon wear off first.

A printed version of HBO's once venerable Inside the NFL Panthers version. Highlights, recaps, interviews and human interest. Panther fans around the country how and where they experience gameday. Past players where are they now, current players charitble works etc. Just never hire Wanda Sykes.

In all seriousness, it is tough to do a start up magazine. I was a Creative Director for a magazine in Charlotte, and was aware of the recession well before it was mentioned nationally in the media, as advertising dollars were tougher to come by. Subscription money hardly covers the cost of printing, unless you are getting 50 to 100k in production. Depending on the stock of paper and what payouts are expected to contributors, seeing a profit would be down the road unless you get some major sponsors willing to pony some doe in advance. And how officially related to the NFL and Panthers will it be will determine how big of players you get to pay for the advertisers. Anyway, good luck with it, I love a pretty magazine on the coffee table, especially on some quality paper and dynamite photography.

Objectively speaking, I would go without the recap of huddle conversations... I'd like to read content from a very, very select few when it comes to hearing from huddle experts... I like the interviews with current and former players idea, I hope that can truly get worked out... Stats. Meh... if you're going to fill space with charts of numbers, I think it would be cool to see a new analysis of stats, other than the ordinary- make your own formula for a stat and stay consistent with it.

What he said.

    • Having trouble finding all these articles saying the Raiders withheld information. Here’s the latest from Crosby’s surgeon: ElAttrache told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday morning that Crosby was "doing very well in the early part of his rehab and recovery from surgery to treat a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee. He is certainly on track in his planned program." "We truly respect the work of the Ravens' staff with Maxx regarding the contract physical exam. We also understand the challenge the staff faces when tasked to provide a future risk assessment based on an evaluation early in the recovery process," ElAttrache said. "This is especially challenging when dealing with an elite player like Maxx considering the level of commitment necessary for a team to obtain him. The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear."     So the Ravens excuse is the future risk assessment based on the physical, not that the Raiders withheld information. They found an excuse to save face publicly. They had the right to cancel the trade for no reason at all, but they’re trying to save face with the most acceptable reasoning they can find. I’ve heard and seen the Ravens getting dragged everywhere for this. You know what would be an easy way to put a stop to that if you’re the Ravens and the Raiders were actually the shady ones withholding information? Just come out and say that you were not given all the medical information. But they aren’t saying that. I guess they’re just taking the bullet for the Raiders just because?    Speculation indeed.
    • Two first round picks for a guy with very questionable knees who will be 29 this summer. Yes it is safe to say the Ravens got cold feet.
