Hornets and Nets restarts trade talks

I definitely think he's a better fit here and if the trade goes down as reported, then Vonleh a d Biz are likely to get more minutes as well, so I think it makes us better. Do it.

Kemba may need surgery, and the extent of Biz's injury is still being evaluated. So that means they'd be sporting a lineup of Roberts, Johnson, Zeller, MKG, and Al....with a really weak bench. I don't see how this move would necessarily make them any better.

Trading for aging players with hefty contracts just to get rid of Lance Stephenson is not only incredibly stupid but blatant blind desperation.

I'm surprised at some of the people here who actually think moves like this are intelligent or productive for this franchise long term.

As it stands right now, by moving on from Hendo, Lance and Marvin, that frees up minutes for PJ and Vonleh.

Isn't that what everybody wanted? Isn't that better in the long term for the franchise?

The Al signing screwed everything up. We were headed in the direction of a rebuild similar to Orlando, acquiring assets and young players and sprinkling veterans in on small deals as stop gaps. Then we signed Al and he put the team on his back and played out of his mind, taking the Hornets to the playoffs.

All of a sudden, the rebuild was accelerated because of the cap room and the opportunity to become a playoff team in a down Eastern Conference, but the drastic underperformance of the players signed to help fuel another playoff run and the sad regression of Al Jefferson from the opening tip of the season have left us with that Orlando-esque roster.

So now, the franchise is at a crossroads. Do they A: Give up a young player that was highly drafted or a lottery pick to acquire a better veteran upgrade at that position (Vonleh for David West, etc) or do they B: Move on from the underperforming players to re-tool the roster for more of a youth movement and players that fit the needs of the roster (The Dave Gettleman Method.) The other option is C: not moving at all, but this week was a harsh preview of what is to come if Kemba is out for an extended period of time.

I don't want more minutes for vonleh... Guy can barely tell a basketball from his ass at this point.

I'm glad somebody understands this. He could easily be a 20/10 player one day, he just isn't anywhere close to being game ready.

Another thing to take into consideration about these rumors: Charlotte always keeps things very close to the vest. Whenever the sharks were circling around Lance no one ever addressed it publicly in the front office and ultimately Lance wasn't traded.

This might be a play from BKN's camp to put pressure on us into making some kind of move. They are the ones desperately trying to get rid of Joe Johnson's contract and pretty much everyone on that team.

As Jakob and 8789 have pointed out, it's a head scratching move from Charlotte's perspective, particularly if Kemba is out, because without him, this team is in dire straits no matter what moves are made. I've opined that the only way it makes sense is to force the roster into a youth movement or if they plan on making another move like sending Jefferson to that select market of teams looking for post scoring.

J. Johnson to BKN for Marvin, Lance, Henderson

Al to OKC for Lamb, Collison, Perkins

Kemba/Roberts/Pargo

Lamb/Neal/Hairston

MKG/Johnson/Taylor

Zeller/Collison/Vonleh

Biz/Perkins/Maxiell

Expirings: Pargo, Collison, Perkins, Taylor, Maxiell

Long term it would change nothing. If Al opts in this summer we're pretty much capped next season anyway. As I said before, the only deals on the books past next season are Kemba, Cody, PJ, and Vonleh.

I'm not sure this makes sense.  Henderson is playing as good or better than Johnson, and is younger.   Perhaps our coaches feel Johnson would have more success here?  I'm not sure.

I'm all for dumping Marvin somehow, they was a terrible mistake of a signing.

Part of me feels like we're giving up on Lance too early, but it's either Kemba or him on the court so we have to choose.  I think I had just such high hopes for our team this year it's hard to bail already, deep down inside lol.

I'm just not sure trading three guys away for one 33 year old is worth it, for depth reasons.
