I was having a discussion with a Pelican fan about the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers that the league blocked..

He felt the league screwed NO by not letting them make that trade.. I said they saved them from giving the Lakers a Championship for a bag of chips (see Memphis trade of Gasol)... What is your opinion. .

Now in the Lakers trade they would have gotten Odoms, Scola, Martin, Dragic and a pick from the Lakers I think...

They got from the Clippers Eric Gordon, Kaman and a pick from the Clippers. .

Hindsight 20 20 Dragic would have been nice to have.. but at the time Gordon was a ascending young talent and Kaman was a back to the basket big man (which not many teams have now).. I also don't know if they would have gotten A Davis if they were a better team and the NBA didn't screw us.. Because with the Lakers trade they would have had Healthier players..Since Gordon and Kaman have been injury prone since playing in NO..

So I still feel they got saved by the Nba for blocking that trade..what do you guys think...

Dragic didn't break out until 2012-13, before that he was considered a pretty good backup. The Clippers deal was better, just because of Gordon's potential. Unfortunately for NO, they matched a big contract that he hasn't been able to stay healthy for hardly any of. When a star player wants out, and will bolt after the season anyway, teams aren't generally going to give up anything of real value (unless LeBron is your GM).

I never understood why the trade was blocked. I do believe the lakers would be a better team and more than likely the clippers would still suck. The trade was the reason why they have Steve Nash who signed a big contract and has hardly even played which really hurt the lakers.

What do you mean the gasol trade was a championship for a bag of chips? Marc is better than Pau in his prime and he's only getting better

The Grizzlie's traded Pau for Kawme Brown and the pick ended up being Marc.. but in reality they gave up a all star talent coming in his prime...for a bag chips... and got lucky nobody picked Marc earlier in that draft. . The Lakers got 2 titles from that move...

I think it's neither saved nor screwed...both trades sucked simply because no trade that NO could've made at the time would've been able to equal or cancel losing CP3. Eric Gordon may have been a better option, but he still even at that time was still Brandon Roy 2.0

I actually think CP3 doesn't get enough sh*t for forcing his way out of there. I love the guy, but as much crap as Melo and LBJ get it surprises me that no one ever says anything.

    • I'm salty every time I see someones mid picks become stars while we throw first and second rounders over and over and they all stink outside of Tet (who still has a lot to prove, imo)
    • There is a contingent that is total Bryce but they weathervane with the wind. When the good Bryce wind blows about once or twice a month we hear a lot from them. But they are always pro Bryce, they just don’t pipe up too much when he sucks. I can’t speak for them, as far as what they are looking at.    In a second contingent, the collective mind is made up. He has had had basically three years worth of starts that might include a top tier outing or two, a few second tier outings, offset by about the same number of bottom tier outings which actually may have the edge there.  The rest of his stuff is third tier and that is going to be the bulk of his starts. We want to move on. And we aren’t getting off of that hill until he puts us off of it. He has not.    There is a third contingent that has no conviction and definitely weather vanes. Bryce is good. Bryce isn’t good. Depending on the latest game. They will buy into 7 on 7 success so that should tell you something.
    • Nacua is really fuging good. He might be a better version of Cooper Kupp.
