He was huge coming out of college but didn't live up to the hype in the pros.

People forget Harper missed training camp. Took him a while to get back up to speed. He didn't play bad over the last half of the season. Not great, but not bad either.

 

 

From what I can gather Ron and Dave seemed genuinely happy with Harper's play especially in the second half of the year and prefer having a veteran in that position. He's signed through this coming year right? What do you think the chances are that he is the starter again this season?

I think he is 100% the starter. 

 

After hearing Josh Norman, Bene Benwikere and Tre Boston talk about how much his leadership meant this year I can't see the Panthers making a change, at least to start the season.

Yeah, Norman was gushing over Harper in the podcast.  I can't imagine they'd make a change, unless he fell off the map next season or something.  I was actually very impressed with his performance after the better supporting cast was in place.  I hated him for so long, it took me a while to accept the fact that he is a very smart player, and seems like a really good guy as well.

Big guy. I wonder if he could be a linebacker? I remember when he was a top safety prospect and plenty if people wanted us to draft him.

Yes, because he got exposed for sucking. He certainly did not live up to his contract or expectations.
