Public Poll on 2015 Huddle FFL ideas

  1. 1. How would you like to see Fantasy Football on the Huddle in 2015?

    • Prefer to keep leagues managed by Huddlers pinned to top of forum, keeping different formats and groups together
    • Would support a free Huddle "Mega League" (see post for details) to crown ONE Huddle Champ
    • Would support a $20 Huddle Mega League (see post for details)
    • Would support both a Mega League and other Huddle Leagues
    • I got to this forum because of word "lingerie"

Many years ago I ran a 48 team league on the Huddle with fair to middling success.  I am contemplating offering this option again this summer but curious to see how many others would be interested.

In a "Mega League" you basically have four different "conferences" of 12 teams each that draft like separate leagues.  But each conference follows the same rules and same schedules.  The key is that these teams play an abbreviated schedule and only the top 2-4 teams move on to the "Playoffs"

The Playoff contenders then enter into a new bracket and are seeded.  There is a very good possibility that some teams in the playoffs would possibly have the same players at one or more positions.  This can be awkward, weird or a real strategy play.  In our case several years ago only three NFL players matched up against each other and in one case the owner benched the star player and the backup outscored him.  The point is, you can view it as a roadblock or a challenge.

The benefit of a "Mega League" is that you get one owner out of 48 Huddlers that can truly claim the Huddle Championship and receive a special banner/trophy.

The pain of a Mega League is finding 48 owners that commit to playing all season and pay their dues in advance.  I would be willing to run it and guarantee the payouts but only if interest is shown.  I realize there are leagues some Huddlers have played on that would want to keep operating and of course they would be pinned here also.

Please vote and/or add in your two cents.  It is a Public Poll (non-binding, just collecting list of potential owners) and there is option to vote for more than one.

Does the 160 mean you paid yourself to put the league on? Just curious

yes.  I fronted the money but it came out of the prize money at the end.

at the time this was the only platform I could find that would support multiple leagues sourcing a late season playoff league.  I suspect there are more and cheaper options now than 8 years ago.

I know it's early but just gauging interest for early summer organizing.

I just decided I'm not going to do a "mega" league.  Don't think we have 48 committed players.

I will be renewing the two from last year though, I'm sure there will be new openings.

did you run the one that I won last year? I'd be back in on that if it's going again.

    • And, yes, I've been a slow boil, but watching continually watching shitty displays of football for weeks has me frustrated.
    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
