Like I said, cant really have BPA, you can only have tiers, unless there is no other player in that same tier left on the board (usually not the case).

Drafting is pretty MUCH always a combination of talent, skill, potential, need, and organizational fit.

So then you'd have some way of ranking within that tier, need, fit, etc and still make draft day relatively easy. Hell of a lot of work which I'm sure they pay a lot of good money to do.

Plenty of college OT play at that weight so your argument doesn't hold much water weight either.

Hey man, good point. Smith is a beast. I just think gettleman wants some serious beef in his long term Oline.

Also, off of film, humpries was a 3rd rounder until the combine.. its hype man.

You know who had unbelievable combine numbers? Bruce Campbell.

People said the same thing about Ja'Wuan James last year too. Went 19th to Miami and had he made it to 28th he would be in Carolina right now.

Humphries also showed the same fluidity and foot speed on tape. People just never really got around to examining him with all the other more known OT's declaring.

247Sports NFL Mock Draft v. 3.0 also has us taking Humphries:

(off the board were Scherff, Peat, La'el Collins, and Flowers)

25. Carolina Panthers – D.J. Humphries, OT, Florida

No offensive lineman helped their stock at the NFL Combine more than Humphries, who showcased left tackle athleticism in Indianapolis. When scouts go back to watch his film, they will find a nasty blocker with the wingspan and recovery speed to match up with pass rushers in the NFL. Cam Newton deserves a franchise blindside protector, and in Humphries, Dave Gettleman fixes the biggest mistake of 2014 – not replacing Jordan Gross with comparable talent.

    • New season new teams. Everyone we face has improved their team as well. There's now a full season of tape on Canales's offense and Bryce running it. When they win 7 games I will become a believer.
    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
