They're gonna draft Gurley in the 1st. Lynch this year then he can retire and Gurley will take over. Scares me.

Why? We have smothered him the two games Star has played, including Star and KK's first game as a pros. We came up short on the scoreboard due to DeAngelo's fumble but we had that game exactly where we wanted it. We even contained him relatively well in 2012 and in the playoff game without Star. We are entering our prime (Luke also only 23), while he'll soon be leaving his. If they take a RB they'll be ignoring WR/TE/OL/DL issues of their own. Why scared?

With respects, their line was/is better than ours, but not by much. I do think a healthy Stew isn't that far away but there's a difference. Top 10, dang good, but not top 1-2 like Lynch. JMO.

After that Super Bowl loss, they basically had no choice but to pay Lynch.

 

I kind of wonder now about those rumors floating around about trying to make Wilson the SB MVP by forcing a throw.

 

Honestly I don't think they wanted to pay Marshawn, not with all that back and forth coming out of both camps last season. They were probably hoping that Wilson would be able to successfully take the reins of the offense without Marshawn, but it didn't work.

Then they pay him a massive amount considering his age

So I guess they were just stupid and considered a slant over the middle from the one was a better option??

this will be his final season I'm sure...so the long term effect doesn't bother me at all.

as for the front office knowing Wilson can't win on his own....I sure the hell hope that's the case...show me any football team that has won with just a single player.

I'm not saying most teams have dominant players or players that are key to their success...but it's a team sport!

 

Do you think Shaun Alexander was the best running back in his MVP season?  Neither do I but when you get to run behind Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson with Mack Strong as your fullback...hell....even I could have put up impressive numbers,.

      Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!

      When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
