Ultra early power rankings from NFL.com

PANTHERS

For the record, I think Carolina wins the NFC South this season. Not only did the Panthers become the first team in the history of the division (which was born out of realignment in 2002) to finish first back-to-back, now they will become the first to three-peat. All they need is a WR2, an RB2, O-line help, a DE and an SS. I would like an SS, as well. Give me a '68, blue with white stripes, man.

As I said, it is ultra early and you don't have to beat a dead horse. Having said that, teams I don't think should be ahead of us are the Texans at 14, the Chiefs at 9. However we remain top dog in the NFCS.

not sure why so many people are counting out Fozzy as our #2 back. an argument could be made that he was more effective than DLo last year.

he's got a great running style and always looks like he's running downhill. I know blocking is a big part of RB duties, but that can be ingrained by coaching and more reps in practice.

we need depth all over the roster and could stand to get a few starters out of the draft...namely WR, CB, T, S and OLB. I'm hoping for at least 3 legitimate rookie starters out of the draft. that would've a huge boost and upgrades to a team that was riddled by injuries and inconsistent play throughout the season.

Time to start pushing our sights a wee bit higher than just winning the division again. Anything less than at least winning one playoff game will be a disappointing season.

Two main goals for the season should be beating Seattle on the road during the season, and making it to the NFC Championship.  Made the divisional round two years in a row, gotta take a step up.

Yeah, it's time for EVERYBODY to take that next step. You are seeing from the Saints and 49ers how superquick windows close in this league. We've got a good, young solid core to work with. Our window is just opening. Anything less than a NFC championship game will be a disappointment. Still don't think we are there with the Seahawks or Packers yet though.

I remember last season some guy from the bleacher report did a ranking of every position group and the panthers ranked 32nd on both O-line and WR, at the the time I thought it was a bunch of horse s**t. Little did I know....

To be fair, it is still almost bottom of the league.

Lol I love how he just so non chalantly says, "all they need is a WR2, RB2, Oline, DE and SS." Really?! Is that ALL we need? Phew, that makes me feel so much better, we just pretty much need a stud at pretty much every position in football and we are set guys!!

I instantly thought of the scene in Ghostbusters when Ray buys that clunker of a car ( which eventually becomes the ghostbusters car) and he tells venkman "Hey guys, all this car needs is spark plugs, breaks, transmission, fuel filter, tires, break pads, engine, timing belt and she is good to go!" (I paraphrase ofcourse)

On a serious note, I do see us 3peating again

We have more holes than 1 off-season can fix, but we've taken care of the special teams, and the draft should be good for at least 2+ starters and some depth. I agree with your goals, and next offseason cap freedom = big signings for SB run

Pretty sure he was being sarcastic - as in, we have a lot of needs, hence why we're only 15th.

Fozzy was more productive than Deangelo last year. However, I don't see him as anything more than a RB-3/scat back. I definitely think we could do with a rb2. If Stewart goes down, do you feel comfortable with Fozzy being the feature three down back?

yeah...Fozzy is a good running back and had no problem getting 4 and 5 yards behind our bit do great line.

I'd be more comfortable with Fozzy than i would be with a rookie back there. Fozzy is a very good yardage gainer, don't understand why he gets such little respect from our fan base.

I'm not site what you're taking about. Fozzy is very much overhyped on this board. There are only a select few of us that aren't high in Fozzy, and the very reason you don't heart a vocal minority is because it's more of us riding the fence instead of saying he is flat out bad. I liked some things from Fozzy, I'm just not sure he is an answer yet.

    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
