Hurry up Offense.

You know what? I'll take our slow-ass, methodical, run Williams and Stewart down their throats offense every day. Do that all game, and when Jake DOES hurry up he'll be deadly.

IF the D is able to keep us in the game. If we're down 35 points in the forth, hurry up isn't likely to be of much use.

A smart move would be to drop into the hurry up each time we break off a 10-yard play or longer. It would keep the defense on its heels after a big play and prevent them for resetting their personnel into a first down defense.

Imagine catching a team in their nickel defense for 10 yards and then kicking into two quick power running plays (pulling guards, etc...). It can break the opposition down pretty quickly, which leads to defensive penalties, which are so helpful.

Of course, a penalty stops the clock, knocking the hurry-up's advantage away. But by then, you've gained some yardage.

Beyond Jake's strengths in the hurry up, we are blessed to have a team that features blocking wide receivers and running backs that can catch the pass in the flat. As a team, we are a lot more capable of running a vast array of plays without shuttling in specialists from the sidelines.

On defense, however, we're going to have to see some ability to do their own version of a hurry-up defense. A three-and-out once in a while would be nice.

I like the idea.

Did anyone watching the Monday night game get a bit jealous seeing Favre dump off short passes to the running backs, especially when the blitz was coming? We've got such dangerous guys in space, that I think doing this would really allow Jake to build his confidence by completing these quick passes to the backs and letting them work their magic. It would essentially be an extension of our running game, and it would keep defenses more honest (and probably open up things for the long ball, as well).

Again, there is a big difference between running a hurry-up and a no-huddle. Theres a reason that teams only use the hurry-up when they do. Lets not forget that one of the main keys to winning a game is time management and more specificly TOP. At best using the hurry-up would result in a shot out and at worst a blow out. Not only would it wear down the offensive line but it would also wear down the defense very quickly.

Now, running more no-huddle is a much better option but I still don't see Jake being able to be that field general like Manning is able to do.

This would be a great idea! My only concern would be if, again, the ability of the offensive line or even the running backs being able to "hurry up" after a play that was that long. One of the things that made the offense so effective last season was the fact that Williams nor Stewart were ever that winded even late into games because of the two-back system. I think this would limit that because there wouldn't be enough time to get the other back into the game.

All valid points maybe we can get Davidson in on this! Trust me I know we are a run first Offense and I think that is what wins championships, along with a great Defense. You have got to add wrinkles, the days of smash mouth football are over. Teams must have balance on Offense, look at the past few champs, they were able to run and throw. Dont get me wrong Jake is not Peyton Manning and I dont like it when teams run the no huddle the entire game. How many times have we seen the Colts blow leads at the end of games because of this type offense? (also Pats and Cardinals past 2 Superbowls) Khyber53 had a great idea, using this after a long gain. Again I think this only works a few times a game. Just a side note what do you think of Goodson's burst when he gets in space? Does anyone think we keep 3 RB's, 2 FB's, 4 WR's and 3 TE's?

I personally think it is going to be a numbers thing and Rosario will be cut. I know he has had his moments but i think we need roster spaces for other things like DT and kick off specialist. I also dont like our O line depth so it might be possible that we need to stock up some there. Also DE is pretty full as well, I wish we could keep everyone but someones got to go and i just feel like it will be depth in an area we are strong in that will get cut in order to keep more rotation guys in the bad areas.
