Six teams reportedly interested in trading for Adrian Peterson

He's more like a 29 year old RB considering he didn't play last year and Randy Moss was more of a cancer than a benefit at that point. There's no way he'd be had for less than a 2nd, and the Vikes want a 1st and 2nd or starting CB.

I understand your point, but that's not the way I look at it.

For me the 30 number and RB's isn't always about carries, it has more to do with the bodies ability to "heal" between games.

Every year that goes by, the body is slower and slower to heal the nagging injuries that all RB's have.

As for touches as well....AP is second only to Gore in carries in the NFL (Jackson isn't with a team).  AP has multiple 300 carry seasons, and a few that were close to 300.

That dude is all but used up, even though he is one of the best ever.

You're assuming that all players' bodies are the same. Peterson hasn't slowed down at all and actually came back from that ACL tear with more explosion than before. He easily has a few more elite years left in him. He's a physical specimen, with insane discipline in the training room and his diet. I personally don't think it'd be worth it to trade a 1st but a 4th is way too low for an elite game changer. 2nd is about right in my opinion.

Have you looked at his contract?

Unless you are currently a contender, and have multiple very high picks (see Baltimore and NE) there is no way I trade a 2nd for a 30 year old RB that wants a new contract, and probably can't play at a high level for another 3 seasons.

I know that you are a good poster, but you and I will have to agree to disagree.

I understand nobody would trade anything for that contract. It's been reported that AP and his agent would re-do his deal in a trade, since they just want out of Minnesota. He's not looking to get paid more and I'm sure his agent understands that if they were to cut him he wouldn't get as much as he's making now on the open market. The problem is the Vikings are wanting too much in a trade since they want to keep him so badly.

Which I don't understand at all...

Teddy is a good QB, get that mess off the books, and get a decent RB in there.

I don't really understand it either. They know he doesn't want to play for them, so just trade him for a 2nd and clear the cap space. They must think that they can be contending for the playoffs or better with him, which I guess wouldn't be that big of a stretch. They were decent last year with Teddy and their coaching staff is now solid. Peterson instantly makes that offense twice as good as it was last year with Matt Asiata in there. Only year they had Peterson AND a good QB was with Favre and they got damn close to the Super Bowl that year. And having him in there could help Teddy's development if they're stacking the box for him, instead of not having to worry about Asiata or McKinnon and playing the pass every play, considering how bad their OT situation is (arguably worse than ours).

If you're the Cardinals would you not trade your 2nd rounder for Peterson and a re-done contract? I think they would do that in a heartbeat, and they should do it if the Vikings would.

Not sure, I still need a QB some kinda bad to really be able to compete, but that's a maybe for me.  Would all depend on the contract.

PFT quoted Charles Robinson as saying it's now down to three teams: the Cardinals, Jaguars and, yes, the Buccaneers.

He also thinks the Falcons might still be interested but described them as being 'on the edges' of the discussion.

I know the Jags have repeatedly denied having any interest, but I guess Robinson thinks they're posturing.
