How much did the Seahawks influence the Shaq Thompson selection?

In the post 1st round draft press conference, Rivera mentions being able to keep three linebackers on the field against two TE sets.  He specifically mentions Jimmy Graham who is now a Seattle Seahawk.  This pick might be directly influenced by the trade the Seahawks made to acquire Graham.  They have a good TE in Luke Willson who burned the Panthers for a touchdown in the playoffs, and now have Graham.  They will likely be using both of them on the field at the same time, but now the Panthers have the players to match up with them.

Very likely we'll see TD on Graham and Thompson on Willson up in Seattle this season.  Can't wait to see how he fits in the scheme.  I was lukewarm on the pick at first, but after watching the press conference with Gettleman and Rivera, it was a smart pick.  Hope it pans out.

The three or four games prior to the playoff game that we played them, they averaged like 12 points a game.  Jimmy Graham definitely helps them, but our defense is not the reason we've been losing to the Seahawks.  If they really had beating the Seahawks in mind, they would have taken a WR to help the passing game or an OT to block their blitzers.

Yeah, can't wait to play Seattle again and hold them to 6 points the entire game, and after 4 quarters of 3 and outs from our offense, they score a nail-in-the-coffin-TD with 2 minutes to go, with all three lbs on the field... Only to remind us, that our defense hasn't been the problem.

It's cool a Cam'll throw a deep TD to Devin Smith and we'll be back in the lead.

(We're not going into the season with Cotch as our #2 again.)

ehhh kelvin benjamin is pretty much a direct response to the LOB. "you can't coach 6'5"

and he did pretty well against the LOB all things considered. no other WRs to really help. caught that sick 50 yarder in double coverage. scored twice in the divisionals. etc.

the biggest issue in that game, if you remember, is that russell wilson was like... 10/11 on 3rd down for 250 yards and 3 TDs. if coverage can hold longer or if we can send a blitzer in there to sack wilson, then we dont do that poorly on 3rd down. we maybe win the game.

besides, g-man said this draft was deeper for WR than last year's class. i'm sure we'll pick up a new starter tomorrow.

    • So, based off the official depth chart, there are a few things I dont like on defense. Bobby Brown III as the backup, with Robinson starting over him,  and our smallest DL starting at NT. I dont like that neither of our 2nd rounder OLBs are starting, so I am hoping for heavy rotation there. Also, David Moore is our punt returner, WTF? Also, our primary backup RB as the KR when we have other capable players like Horn Jr and Trevor?  OFFENSE: WR: *Tetairoa McMillan* - Jalen Coker - *Jimmy Horn Jr.* TE: Tommy Tremble - #James Mitchell# LT: Ikem Ekwonu - Brady Christensen  LG: Damien Lewis - Chandler Zavala C - Austin Corbett - Cade Mays RG: Robert Hunt  RT: Taylor Moton - Yosh Nijman TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - *Mitchell Evans* WR: Xavier Legette - Adam Thielen - David Moore - #Brycen Tremayne# QB: Bryce Young - Andy Dalton RB: Chuba Hubbard - #Rico Dowdle# - *Trevor Etienne* DEFENSE: LE: A`Shawn Robinson - #Bobby Brown III#  NT: #Tershawn Wharton# - *Cam Jackson* RE: Derrick Brown - Jaden Crumedy LOLB: #Patrick Jones II# - *Nic Scourton* - Thomas Incoom LILB: Trevin Wallace - (Bam Martin-Scott)  RILB: #Christian Rozeboom# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: D.J. • A couple of these guys might take exception to that, but yea, I get what you’re saying.
