Panthers - Jaguars Gameday Thread

A quick look at the box score, we won because we won the turnover battle and we dominated them on 3d conversion.  Everything else was pretty even.  I'm sure @KB_fan can offer greater insight.

  • I noticed the positive turnover ratio of course, and the time of possession.
  • Very few penalties.
  • No points allowed in second half.  For now, we've allowed the fewest points of any team with a completed game.
  • We scored in every quarter.
  • 18 receptions by nine different receivers - that was nice to see.  We need Cam to be able to spread the ball around and not be too dependent on just Greg.

Other than that, I'll have to see if I can find some time tomorrow evening to dig into the box score / gamebook.  I've got a bad headache tonight and need to stop staring at the screen.

But best stat of all 1 - 0.  Ugly, but it's a win.  That's enough for now.

The defense bent but never broke today. Very proud of that. Norman had the best game of his career.

Cam did what he could with very shaky receiver play and some injuries to his line, but he – for the most part – made good decisions with the ball and placed it well, especially to Cotch for the TD.

Losing Luke hurts so bad, but it seemed like Klein did an admirable job in his stead.

Loved Rivera going for it on 4th in the first half and sure enough, not only did we get it but we got a TD a couple plays later.

So happy Jacksonville's kicker missed four points worth of kicks. A huge help.

We got a win. At the end of the day, that's what matters, and there's reason to smile.

there were too many missed tackles, drops, and balls tipped at the LOS. The tips at the line and drops really killed cams performance. that big 3rd down and long conversion by cotch was made even tho the ball was tipped at the line.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
