Panthers as Superbowl Contenders

Bleacher report just released their Consensus Power Rankings and stated the Panthers will only be considered legit Superbowl contenders AFTER they beat the Packers. So one game is going to determine our worthiness.. Bullsh*t!!

What's Next?: Despite a 7-0 start, the Panthers continue to fall behind other undefeated teams in Bleacher Report's rankings. Their defense isn't as highly touted as the Denver Broncos'. They're not as complete of a team as the Cincinnati Bengals. And the New England Patriots are currently operating at a completely different level from everyone else. A victory Sunday against the Green Bay Packers should finally solidify the Panthers as a legit Super Bowl contenders.

Let's compare the opponents for the Panthers and Packers at the point where both were undefeated at 6-0. The Packers' opponents have 17 wins, while ours have 19. Even if you add the Broncos and Colts, it's only 24 wins for their opposition and 22 for ours. GB isn't tearing it up on either offense or defense either, stat wise. As for Rodgers, he's only 2 spots above Cam in total passing yards, and 3 higher in passing yards per game.

This crap about GB being our first real test is just that-crap. To this point we're just as legit as they are.

GB is not some mythical unbeatable powerhouse....especially on the road.  How the odds makers have them favored is just nuts.

They are a totally different team once you get them away from the frozen tundra.  I am feeling pretty good going into this game.  We have won 11 straight regular season games....what more do we have to do for people outside of the Carolinas to take us serious as the dominating bad asses of the league that we are?

It'll be huge it we can win against them though. I'm in the mood for a convincing win too if I can ever dare to hope for something like that with this team

The Panthers will never have a "convincing" win. I

If we beat the Colts 23-6, it would be because Luck was "injured". We beat them 29-26 and we almost let a bad colts team(Read as: Refs) "comeback."

If we destroy the Packers, it'll be because the Pack "has fallen off." If we barely beat the Pack, it'll be "Well the Broncos destroyed them, and they barely got past them" or "they got lucky."

    • Yeah, I've been torn up all week about this. And I'm going to be honest, you and I don't know poo about what is going on with the team. Are they losing the locker room? Not seeing anything from the players about that, just seeing it on forums like this. Are they concerned? Yeah, I'd think that would be a reasonable assumption. Are they rallying around Bryce? Yeah, that I'm seeing from the stuff we see of the players. Is some of it a bit drummed up, quite possibly. Is some of it genuine care and belief in their teammate, yeah most definitely. What is Morgan going to do? Hell, that was just week 1. And week one is often a liar. Once in a while it tells the truth (and that sure was an ugly one to tell last Sunday). Most often, it's just what it is. Half the teams that played in week one lost. Straight down the middle. Sometimes it was a close game, sometimes it was a blowout. We got punched in the face, had our lunch money stolen and Jacksonville kissed our girlfriend.  Me, I saw a team that wasn't up to speed yet. We were playing like this was the fourth pre-season game like we used to have. We're going to learn a lot about Bryce, this team, our coaching and team management after this week's game. It's against the Cardinals, a team that has always been one of those benchmarks for it. Beat them and good things happen (remember that killer game Julius Peppers had against them), lose and it often starts the fast slide to the bottom again (sadly, that playoff game with Jake...). Right now, the Cardinals have their Bryce Young, except their guy still has a better PR department. They have a meh-ish defense. They have a star WR that is underperforming and was possibly over-drafted. They don't have many stars to speak of and dwell around 3rd-4th place in their division on a regular basis. In other words, they are pretty much on par with us. And they are a forgotten team as well, playing games in obscurity. So, yeah, we're going to learn the tale of the season this weekend. And honestly, if we lose like we just did or worse, and I was Dan Morgan, I'd be working on polishing up that resume`.
    • Lol I don’t understand why everyone is liking that post and quoting it, it’s from last season. Did I miss something?
    • At this point, I don't want anymore fools gold from Young. He either needs to be in the MVP conversation  (lol) or I want to get blown out every game until he is off the team. Our front office just isn't bright enough to handle anything in between.
