The Panthers against the Blitz - did Titans show teams how to attack us?

2nd sack by Woodyard (59) was a nicely timed B gap blitz on the right side of the line. 59 was lined up over the B gap on the left side till just before the snap and drifted right so the protection couldn't account for him. At the snap, Stewart was breaking out into the flat on the left side which left us with an empty backfield. The LDE rushed wide to create a gap and the DT (90) did a nice job of sealing Turner off (inside blitzes are like reverse running plays) which left 59 with a free run to our QB. This was a well timed and executed blitz, that took advantage of the playcall - not a fundamental weakness in our protection.

I wonder how much Norwell being out contributed to the blitz being successful.  O-line talent deficiencies can be masked by good chemistry and playing as a unit.  I wonder if a few of those blitzes get picked up with Norwell in there.

Also I remember a back missing badly on a blitz pickup by releasing too early that resulted in a sack, I think it was Tolbert.  If Cam got it to him it would have been a big gain but he really needed to chip on the blitzing defender to give Cam time.  You keep blitzing if it's successful, if it backfires into a thirty or forty yard gain you probably stop blitzing as frequently.

Best I could tell was Turners and Scotts side that was double gapped blitzed.

Correction it was a dog blitz not double gap. See above, great illustration and explanation.

Put this in perspective. The Titans have Dick LeBeau who is a guru of the zone blitz and does it better than anyone else. And he blitzed 19 times and they got 5 sacks. We made the in-game adjustments in the 4th and watched film this week. I promise you they expect Washington to blitz and are ready for it. We have put up 27 or more on most everyone. I don't think Washington puts up 27 on us on Sunday.  I trust the defense. And if they do put up 27 I trust Cam to match it and surpass it if he needs to. This team will fight for 60 and keep pounding. We will do everything we can to score 1 more point than you do. As long as we win who cares by how much

The 3rd consecutive sack was essentially a stunt by Orakpo. Olsen stayed in to help with protection but he was out on the right edge and didn't work back inside quickly enough to pick up Orakpo. 54 is showing blitz so Turner is telling Olsen to help Remmers. DT drew a double team with Kalil/Silatolu and Orakpo blew right by them. 54 drops out just before the snap so Kalil decides to help Silatolu since there are 3 blockers vs. 2 rushers to his right. Olsen saw it but was expecting Kalil to pick it up while still trying to help Remmers, and by the time he realized Kalil wasn't going to get there it was too late. This was another well-designed blitz for our formation that succeeded by dictating pre-snap protection adjustments that would create confusion and our all-pro center's desire to help our backup LG. You can see the last pic below that Amini is turned and beat by his man causing the pocket to collapse.
