As much as I love to root against the Pats, I have to confess, I'm beginning to root for them to win out.  I've got this incredible longing for a matchup of two 18-0 teams, and us punishing them in the Super Bowl.  THAT would be the ultimate revenge.

This is the secret hope that implanted itself in my mind about three games ago. I want sweet revenge.

Love how some of the Pats are a little concerned about how they will perform without Edelman while decrying our lack of injuries this year.  We've been without our #1 wide receiver the entire season, not to mention games missed by several players including Luke, Dwan, C. Johnson, and more.

You cannot stop Cam...

He reads the defense and audibles at the line and almost always knows exactly what's going on.

If you blitz he'll step into the pressure and hit a open receiver over the middle or just run right past the pressure.

If you play zone he'll find the soft spot and hit a target.

If you play man he'll buy time in the pocket for someone to break free or see all the defender's backs to him and just jog to the first down marker on the sideline.

If you play contain and try to keep him in the pocket he will pick you apart.

Even if you play perfect defense he can still deliver a laser downfield into super tight coverage where there's no window or even just run up the middle and lower his shoulder and run you over. And even if your pass rush beats the OL and wraps him up it is still only 50/50 on actually sacking him or watching him break free and run for a 1st down. He's arguably the most unstoppable goal line player in football history. He has a rocket arm and throws a great deep ball.

He's literally the most unstoppable QB in the NFL in terms of no matter what you do, he can counter it and beat you. Every other QB has things they cannot beat. Brady is an amazing QB but if you get pressure on him he's terrible, he's immobile. Russell is a very good QB but if you make him sit in the pocket he struggles. Carson is an elite QB and can throw as good as anybody but if you collapse the pocket and make him move he's mediocre... Etc.

The Panthers need to watch the tape of last Monday night's matchup against Buffalo. The Bills knocked around Brady. You rattle him and it does throw him off a little.

The Bills also took Gronk out of the game.

The only reason the Pats won is inept QB play. That will not happen with Cam.

Cam threw TDs to 5 different receivers against the skins so just shutting down Olsen doesn't work.

I've seen this in a couple of places. "Panthers have gotten lucky with no big injuries". I'm just gonna chalk it up to the fact that guys are stepping up left and right when other guys go down.

    • So we cut him if we don't give him the option?  I'm pretty sure there are players who didn't get the 5th-year option that played year four of their rookie contracts with their draft team.
    • I didn't say do nothing if we don't draft one in the 1st and I"m not counting on a FA to magically become a franchise QB. But signing a FA to be our starter for the year and then re-address the next offseason would be FAR better than reaching on the wrong QB in the 1st this offseason. Feeling we HAVE to find our long term solution just because we need a new QB is how we got into this mess.  We thought Two Gloves would be at worst an average level QB for a few years, that didn't happen, so we went out and traded for Darnold.  That didn't work so we went out and traded for Baker, that didn't work so we went out and traded up to get Bryce. Our last 4 QB moves were all trying to force a solution, none of them worked out, and we're still trying to find Cam's replacement all these years later.  We'd just have been better off spending a year or two building up the rest of the team and going year to year on FA QB's while doing so.  I get it, it will be frustrating to deal with, but then when you find that actual long term solution, they plug right into an already built out roster and you're ready to contend immediately.
    • Great win, should be 3-0 but I'll take 2-1. LaMelo is an MVP caliber player, period.   This is looking like an incredible draft so far. Sion James looking like the exact type of role player that all contending teams need to have, absolute steal in the 2nd. Kalk is a work in progress and I question how much upside he has but he's already been a considerable upgrade at C for us compared to the last several years (outside of healthy Mark which of course was rare).   Really seems like new ownership/front office has change the culture here significantly. Every guy looks bought in now.
