Don Shula Son Needs To Improve Our Screen Game

I think it will always be hard for us to run screens.  The problem is other D-Lines really try to stay in front of Cam for his running ability.  Add in the "spy" or its equivalent that you often see against mobile QBs; this puts defense in a decent position to defend a screen.  This is also probably why we run these misdirection screens because Cam himself needs to clearly be moving the defense in the opposite direction of the play.

Redskins have been running nothing but screens against the Giants so far.

And btw i am not sure that the Packers are the team, that you want to be modelling your offense after with the way they've been performing in recent weeks.

I just pointed to their screen game. They literally came back against us by running screens

I'm legitimately surprised we haven't done more screens with Stewart. He was very, very good as a receiver in 2011 - had something around 40 catches and 400 yards. I meant, I know it's not a big part of the Shula plan, but still.

Watching other teams particularly the Packers, our screen game is lacking big time. The design, the execution needs to improve because teams will be sending blitzes to get after Cam

Seen Cam's stats vs the blitz lately?

I hope teams blitz us mercilessly.

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
