David Newton: Rivera will not rest starters

I wouldn't want to not start the starters, but if we are way up in the 4th, I have no problem sitting some of the older players/pillars like TD, Big Money, Norman, Star, Stew...etc...

I agree, but I also think that you should play it extra safe with injuries, make sure the vets are getting extra rotation and sit them in the 3rd or 4th quarter in blowouts.

Exactly, no reason that we can't rest key starters by limiting their plays (sorry Olsen, I know that you never miss a snap). In all likelyhood, we are able to sit players in the 4th quarters going forward. that way the get a little less wear and tear, and don't loose momentum.

i only see more 4th quarter resting and less carries by stew. maybe more deep shots late in games.  not much else is changing

He did state today on the radio when asked about resting players that we 

would do it smartly.

On Moving the Chains He pretty much said they are going to take it one game at a time. The word he used was "rest players appropriately". 

 

For or what it's worth Pat Kirwan said he thought we would go 16-0 looking at the schedule.
