he said that they never intended to let peppers walk.

when asked about if he knew that they would be handicapped by doing that he said you don't let good players/difference makers go. you identify core players and you keep core players. he said when you spend time with him you don't get the sense that he doesn't want to be in carolina.

every time he was asked if they were handcuffed he kept responding that you keep the playmakers. hurney finally asked, "well who would you bring in?" and said that there isn't anyone they would have brought in that would be as good as peppers. he kept coming back to you don't let big players go.

communication with JR:

we tell him whats going on, but it is our decision.

Did you know JP was coming back?

JP situation was not the reason why we moved to get Everette Brown. We wanted to improve pass rush, and he is a very good player. A chance to get a player that would help our pass rush, we thought it was a need. Julius's situation in the need to get Everette Brown was not related.

I think he's been about as honest as possible... like someone else said, moreso than ever... he can't say TOO much without giving things away... he was asked about value for Peppers and answered with the "Peppers makes us better" stuff, but you know if they'd have received a good trade offer they would have jumped on it... he just can't really say that out loud...
