Realistically, how long before we can actually get back to the Superbowl?

Recommended Posts

realistically this year, but the same could almost be said for every team in the league.

crazy stuff happens. a team can squeak into the playoffs with an 8-8 record playing horribly all year but then turn it on at the last moment and win everything.

all it takes is getting hot at the right moment. 2004 we almost made it in the playoffs and we could have been right back in there.

Week 17 versus the Saints that year.

If we had won we wouldve gotten in.

First Panthers game I ever went to.

cardinals last year. they stunk it up all year and the only reason they got into th playoffs was because they were the turd that floated to the top in their division. they got hot at the right moment and the things that were holding them back started working.

prior to the playoffs they were considered to be the worst playoff team in years.

Need some opinions fellow Panther fans. How many seasons before we could realistically get back to the Superbowl. Ill list below everything that I think contributes to us not going anytime soon.

* No future right now at the quarterback position.

* By the time we do have a replacement QB, Steve Smith will be past his prime.

* No young receivers that can take over for Steve once he is past his prime.

* No QB and no receivers effects Deangelo Williams. He'll be getting up there in years soon as he is a running back. We're looking at only 2 or 3 more years of solid production (most likely)

* Jonathan Stewart is not the heir to that throne as he is too injury prone.

* J Pep will not finish his career with us. Maybe Everett Brown will be effective and take his spot eventually (once Pep is gone)

* How many years do we give Ron Meeks to turn around this defense? I mean, the year he won the Superbowl with the Colts, they gave up like 10,000 points per game and had to outscore the opponents.

* John Fox is predictible and out of date in his coaching and I just have this horrible feeling he's here to stay.

So, given all the issues I see, we may be looking at another 10 years before we could have a team in place that can get to the superbowl. Thats if we have a 4th or 5th year QB. What do you guys think? I just want to see us in the Superbowl again!

Isn’t there an asteroid that destroys the earth in there somewhere?

Seriously there are too many variables to give any kind of a guess. I would like to hope in the next five years we would be back.

Remember all the whining in the media about how it was unfair that a bad team like the Cards got to the playoffs while New England did not? Good times.

yep. i wasn't thrilled about it either....not the part about the pats not getting in, that made me smile. it was that the cards were allowed in.

i was even more unhappy with it in january.

Technically, this year of course.

Realistically? We need a better D-Line, better defensive backs, a better QB, and a new philosophy to be considered as one of the handful of teams that have the best shot at making it. Poll every so called "expert" and journalist that covers the NFL and I bet less than 5% would say we're a SB contender this season.

I still think we'll make the Playoffs though. That positivity make take a hit in Atlanta on Sunday however.

    • You honestly think Tampa would have traded down with a division rival so their rival could land a “generational player” at a massive position of need for TB?   bruh
    • Ya'll better quit throwing shots at Zod. He'll come in here and ban everybody. I had a friend @prosource who was banned in 2015 because he said some very minor things about Zod being an ass to the posters on the main forum after starting the All-Pro one. He said he felt like another level is cool, but don't punch down on people that don't want All-Pro. (He did say that it wasn't going to last long anyways.🤔) I distinctly remember him calling and being like "dude, I got banned, my profile says I don't have access to the Huddle!") I feel like once Tepper came in and cut off all unofficial access to the team, Zod was going to be around less. The All-Pro board had really good photos, even in game stuff, and I remember seeing him behind a little fenced in area at Wofford for non team sanctioned press/photographers after Tepper bought the team. I knew then his ego wouldn't allow him to continue with past fervency and effort with that reduction in access. Dude was literally in the locker room when JR was owner.  I came over in 2011 immediately after finding out this place existed. I was super involved with the Charlotte forum, and fell off after its demise. I will never forget arguing Pep over Ryan Sims on that forum! Who is Ryan Sims some of you may ask? My answer is exactly!
    • And not see him running free. Because has been free a lot more than he gets credit for.    Now what XL does with that when he does see the ball, is on him.
