2003 vs 2015 Panthers

Carolina's 2003 season was magical. I was convinced we would win that super bowl as it seemed like the perfect Cinderella story. The team had a good offense and a terrific defense but this 2015 team would beat them. Cam Newton is playing better now then Jake has ever played. Carolina's 2015 team also has dominant players on all three phases of the defense where the front seven was the strength of the 2003 team. Carolina's 2015 team also has a better tight end in Greg Olsen (he is the best tight end in Carolina history, even past Wesley walls). That and Carolina's 2015 team isn't as strong at wide receiver but that is made up by our tight end and quarter back is so far better. That and Carolina's 2015 defense would have forced Jake to beat them with his arm with a top corner covering Smith, it would be a bad mismatch for that offense which loses that balance. That is what our defense relies on to create turnovers. The Carolina 2015 team could beat the patriots in the super bowl to be honest.

That Josh Norman/Steve Smith battle would have been worth the price of admission alone.

Those Stephen Davis collisions with Luke and TD would be heard throughout the Carolinas.  Davis was a load that season.

Can't even begin to imagine the Josh Norman vs Steve Smith (circa 2003) battle . They mightve both gotten tossed from the game before halftime

Imagine '15 with '03 Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammad, Mike Rucker, Kris Jenkins and Julius Peppers.

 

God help our foe facing a line of Rucker, Jenkins, Short and Peppers.

In reality, the 2005 and 2008 teams were both better than the 2003 team.  If Jake did not go all Carson Palmer on us against the Cardinals we coast into the super bowl that year because the Eagles team the Cardinals beat for the NFC crown in 2008 was not that good.  If the 2005 team did not lose all of their running backs right before we played the Seachickens who knows how that game would have turned out.

2005 team was to limited offensively to be better than the 03 team.  Stephen Davis was done by 05, Ricky Proehl wasn't as good as he was in 03.
