Spoiled Youngsters

Charles Johnson, talking about younger players...

Quote

“They don’t know any better (laughter). Those guys, especially like Star (Lotulelei), those guys are going to come in are just going to be used to winning division championships, but I think it makes you better and it makes you humble, especially when you go through a season only winning two games and having a season like will humble you and it will make you focus on the goal even more. You don’t ever want to go through a season like that.”

The Panthers 53 man roster has seven rookies on it.  Among them, draft picks Shaq Thompson, Devin Funchess, Cameron Artis-Payne, Daryl Williams and David Mayo.  Three more are on the Practice Squad and there's one on Injured Reserve.

Their first year in the NFL, and they're going to the Super Bowl.

Buncha spoiled brats...

When I clicked on this thread I was thinking it was going to be about all the Panther fans who are kids and teenagers. That plus fake ass bandwagoners.

Hell back in my day Biakabatuka was all world and Ray Carruth was bottom line 89.

That has to be an amazing experience as a rookie. Hopefully it shows them what it takes to get there throughout their career.

Good point.

I need to tell these kids to get off my lawn.

They never experienced a whole lost season with a lame duck coach, a QB named after a vegetable that often played like one or the agony of back to back losses.

You know, I wouldn't complain if they get spoiled like this next season. Just saying.

well if you think about it, every super bowl team has approximately 7 rookies on its squad :-)

There are rookies on every Super Bowl team, but I still find it kind of crazy to think about a guy going to the Super Bowl in his first year in the league.

Heck, these guys could have Super Bowl rings before they even hit year number two.

Devin is the youngest guy playing in the SB so we'll add him in too.

Just now, King said:

I think it's good for keeping draft picks here long term that they are spoiled. It also creates an expectation in the locker room of winning seasons every year.

I'd hate to have a team complacent with being mediocre.

You'd have hated the Fox/Hurney years.
