Lewd dancing ... when can I expect national outrage?

Yeah.  Let's stop with this uncomfortable line of dialogue strictly because it makes you uncomfortable.  I hope all this "what if Cam did that" poo never stops.  Maybe if it's incessant, maybe just maybe all the ignorant fugs out there can actually let the rusty wheels inside their craniums spin around and arrive at the same conclusion that more rationally minded people arrived at years ago.

So we just keep doing this forever?  This is now Cam Newton's legacy.  Being used as a straw-man for every indiscretion among white NFL players?  What a legacy!  I think even Cam would get tired of this "dialogue."

It really is a strange phenomena.  There are even biases within the black community based on how light someone is.  It's like they get this crazy white gene in them and start looking at other black people like hey shouldn't you be mowing my lawn or something?

It's the Willie Lynch syndrome. google it.

That's how you choose to view it.  Judging by Cam's blunt comments to reporters regarding uncomfortable topics, I think he is ok with using his fame to make a statement.  I don't see him being used as a straw-man.  What I do see, is people realizing just how unjustified and yes racist most of the criticism aimed at Cam is.  Cam's legacy is guaranteed to be multi-faceted.  One of those facets involves the overlap of social justice and sports.  It's always been like that for athletes who stand for something.  Jim Brown.  Muhammad Ali.  Their legacies encompass athletic excellence and social awareness combined with fearlessness.

Showing the video of Gronk and saying "what if Cam Newton did this" is the very definition of being used as a straw-man.  We need to stop doing that.  Or "what if Cam Newton did this" becomes part of his legacy. He's a lot more than that.

Actually it's not.  As others have already stated, the question is asked to bring attention to much larger societal problems.  It is a question; a very, very simple question that makes people so damn uncomfortable. It is not an argument.  There is no logical fallacy.

In the case of Gronk, I don't think its wise to jump to the black vs. white comparison. Gronk gets a lot of leeway compared to everyone in the NFL. He made some questionable comments about an Asian fan of his at an open mic bar and it went away in the blink of an eye. "It's just Gronk being Gronk"

It's already started with Johnny Manziel.  The phrase "what if Cam Newton did this" is becoming a meme.  It won't address any societal problems.  It'll just be used for parody.  They'll be saying it on Saturday Night Live soon.  It'll be a joke before long.

My experience is that most people (i.e. non-Patriot fans) consider Gronk a meathead / numbskull / dumbass who's extremely lucky to be good at playing football because otherwise he'd probably be best qualified to work as the world's largest, most athletic janitor.

That's probably a big reason why people don't get too hyped up over what he does.  They already know he's a dimwit.  It's kinda like when you see a story about Lindsay Lohan being wasted.  You're like "Yeah, and..."

I don't post much but read everyday and this board is now unbearable with every topic ending up race related or Cam related.

you should've been here three years ago. this is just a natural progression; in the carolinas we've largely overcome (or subdued) racial biases against cam, but the nation hasn't been exposed to the extent we have, so we're seeing a resurgence of the some dumbassery we dealt with here a few years back.

it's not just a coincidence that it's popping up on super bowl week.

You know Cam is special if the South is leading the way on race issues.
