Matt Judon DL

One of my favorite parts of the draft  is watching the DLineman run through their drills. To watch a nearly 300 pound man run sub 5 40's is quite a site. Enter Matt Judon. 6'3 275 pounds out of Grand Valley State. This guy ran a 4.73 40 and hammered out 30 reps on the bench press. He had 20 sacks and 23 TFL this year and won the Gene Upshaw Award which is the award for the best lineman of the year for DII.

Downside (other than playing against a bunch of guys that will be working at foot locker this time next year) is he was in his 6 or 7th year of eligibility due to injury. His profile says he's a little stiff at times but has potential if he can be coached up. I'd love to see us take a guy like that in the later rounds if he's still there. I also like what I saw out Matt Ioannidis from temple.

Sidebar: Nfl comparison for Judon is Ryan Delaire and Ioannidis is Nick Hayden. Thought that was interesting.

Not a fan of small school players.  Would rather stick with D-1, Power-5 prospects.

Generally I'm not either. Has the measurables though. Strong and fast. I think our coaching staff could help maximize his talent. I'm talking about a late round flyer.

So we could expect one awesome game from him and then he'll disappear.

Kid came out of nowhere off of practice squads. What did you expect his first year....the second coming of Randy White? Give him an off season or  two to bulk up and be coached up.....then let's see what we got.

Getts sees athleticism and knows how to get the right guy for the needs of the team, regardless of what round they are drafted in (or UDFAs for that matter.)

if he fits in as a Pantger...we'll know as soon as he's picked-up.

We need a sarcasm button. I like Delaire. We need rotational guys who can come in and get to the QB and Judon and Delaire fit the bill. Plus at 275, Judon has the size to not get pushed around as much.

Yup, trying to put my gettleman glasses on and find an obscure late round guy that could come in and contribute.

Good luck with that one. Half of this year's crop of newcomers are probably doing the same things we are...sitting on the couch watching the underwear olympics.

in Gett's book, the combine probably has little to do with anything other than some free catering and hoping that one guy he really likes looks as bad as possible so he can drop into our laps come draft day.

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
