So does elimination of the chop block significantly effect the Matsko scheme?

Question is for the coaches/technicians in this here forum (and I'm not either).

I've seen commentary in other NFL teams forums/newspapers as to the effect of the elimination of this block.  Personally, I'm glad they're doing away with it.

But how often has this kind of block been SCHEMATICALLY part of our run game?  If the answer to this question is "zero" or "very little", then I'm a happy camper.

It hurts West Coast Offenses like Denver way more than it hurts us.

Do you know which of our 2016 opponents this affects besides Denver? Just like the news of Justin Houston's ACL problem today might make him unavailable for our game against Kansas City if we play them early in the schedule, I'm always eyeing the news pertaining to our opponents this season.

It would be pretty shitty for any team to coach their line to dive at the knees of a defender already engaged with a blocker.

I know KC is WCO (Reid).Pretty sure the Raiders are too. San Diego was always Coryell but I think they changed to E-P last year.

Honestly, most if not all teams have made use of it to a certain extent, but the WCO schemes tend to be more suited.

That was back in 03.

If I remember correctly, Alex Gibbs was the Bucs line coach at the time. I think he coached for the Falcons at some point too.

Love Joe Gibbs but Alex was a POS. That guy's coaching cost more than one player their career.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
