Why, in the NFL, talent >>>>> know-how almost every time

This is one example not necessarily "every time". Plus there is no way to argue that Favre didn't improve for learning such things as he got more experience.

Detmer and Favre both arrived the same year in 92 so it's not like it was well in to his career before he learned this.

If this was true every time why is Jamarcus Russell the benchmark for QB  draft busts and Brees a hall of famer?

Cam & Favre...my two favorite QB's. Spent a lot of my younger years in Southern Mississippi. He is a legend down there.

I consider myself country, yet urban. Favre is the country, with Cam being both country and urban.

I have a feeling that Favre just kind of "got" what was going on when he played, like a QB savant. He didn't ever really have to try hard in understanding the things happening on the field because it always just made sense to him. He never had to call it a nickel coverage because he always understood it, just not under that name.

That's always been my impression of him.

I think this is a little misleading and we are getting some overreactions. Just because Favre didn't know what the term meant didn't mean he didn't understand and conceptualize it in his own way. Favre wasnt a moron QB. His flaw was that he trusted his arm too much to make a play.

He's definitely my favorite QB to play the game as far as style. I see a lot of similarities between him and Cam.

I always wanted to see a Favre vs Brady or Manning superbowl. If im picking a QB to win me one game vs anybody I'm taking fugging Brett Favre.

I guess you could cut Favre some slack for his ignorance since he threw only a few passes per game in high school, as a wishbone QB, and started out at Southern Miss as the 7th string QB (believe it or not) before taking over in game #3. Makes you wonder what happened to the 6 guys ahead of him.
