Mr. Scot, don't make me pull up that article by Joe Menzer that explained how Gettleman basically views every draft pick like gold. I believe Getty is the one that said there are no throwaways. I wholeheartedly agree. Every pick us an opportunity, and when you don't have a pick, it is an opportunity lost (regardless of stats and probability). Come on, man, you have to think like a GM. I am fairly certain that there was someone drafted in that round who is a productive player---at least good depth.

I'm not talking about Gettleman's perspective. I'm talking about mine. And mine is that when you have a solid roster, I'm not terribly worried if picks in the lowest two rounds aren't making the  53 man squad.

Heck, we traded away more than half our picks last year just to get the guys we really wanted.

whose roster spot should gaffney have stolen so he wouldn't have had to pass through waivers

remember williams, stewart, and tolbert were all panthers at that time too

Go find our 2014 90 man roster from July and pick any random turd.

No GM is gonna keep an injured player around over a healthy one unless they think they're something special.

Was there any logical reason to think Gaffney was special?

Well Gettleman liked him enough to draft him and also liked him enough to be upset that the Patriots claimed him so there is good reason to think he did.

I personally didn't but I'm not a GM.

Feel bad for this kid, he had a legitimate shot at some playing time here but was parked on the bench in NE. Yeah, he's got a SB ring but he didn't earn it - doubt it means much to him.

I'd still break that bad boy out at the bar and say "Get some"

Pretty sure that when Gettleman liked him enough to draft him, he wasn't injured.
