Anyone else feel this is week 1?

After what happend last week, I can't help but get excited for this week like its the start of the REAL season. I'm not predicting we win big or make a complete turn-around, I just mean we didn't even get a chance to watch the panthers play football last week.

On the first play of the 2nd quarter, we had the lead and Delhomme fumbled and they scored. Then by the 3:00 mark in that SAME quarter, we were down 31-7 and Jake had 4 turnovers already. After that 2nd INT, we were just playing catch-up and threw the entire gameplan out the window. Obviously we are better then that, so alot of people will be suprised how much we "improved" whether we win or lose. It's just hard watching terrible teams like KC, Den, Clev, and many others actually playing NFL style football and playing competitivly and putting up actual stats while we play this game of "lets see if we can get a first down with our 3rd string QB."

Idk, maybe it's just me, but I feel this is the start of Panther football season and it's gunna be a great division rival game with the birds.

Pumped for tomorrow. Pulling for a Carolina win, but I am expecting a loss. Just trying to set my hopes low, so that I won't be disappointed by a loss, and a win will be all that more exhilarating.

It's a smart strategy. Don't make any predictions, so that you don't jinx it. Don't talk trash, so that you don't jinx it. Keep your hopes low, so a loss is less disappointing, and a win will give you a stronger high. Let your team's performance speak for you.

I don't care if we lose 50-0, I'll still watch every second. I'm still just glad that football is finally back.

Same here...

Like last week, by the end of the 2nd quarter I was just watching in awe. Kind of like a train wreck, I just HAD to watch it. I wasn't upset or mad, since I had wasted all of it by then, but I was watching with no emotion at all... It was weird, lol.

I watched that game beginning to end and felt pretty much the same way. Not the same gut wrenching despair I felt in BoA watching the Cardinals fans celebrate, but close.

yeah, jake dangling the ball around while backed up against the end zone while being sacked shows just how out of it he is. he did the same thing last year against the vikings, again, while we were winning.

this isn't week one, it will be week 6 of preseason and we will once again be "saving ourselves".

    • I wanted him to take over the hornets next year. He's a hard ass and I don't know if that works with 18 year olds that are getting paid. He's a good coach though
    • I mean, dude, come on. There is a huge difference between the two in only one word: explosiveness. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/kc-concepcion/3200434f-4e04-6719-61ea-f84c4a062c16     https://www.nfl.com/prospects/corey-brown/32004252-4f35-6941-7d1f-17d92e3e6054 From what I've read, Concepcion is a very explosive, twitchy, dynamic receiver. His problem has been some drops over his career; some he has to own, others have been questionable throws by the QB.  Greg Cosell said that Concepcion may be the most dynamic receiver in the draft. Steve Smith is generally positive. There have been other, perhaps less known, analysts who are more critical, but even they love everything he does before and after the catch. Concepcion gets open!     Is Concepcion perfect? No. But he does have room for growth. He's much better than a nondescript Philly Brown.
    • Here is what I see (and you can determine what it means):  Seems to be a lot of early-round attention at WR and LB.  At WR, the Z-WR (off ball, lined up on TE side, goes in motion a lot.  Can cause mismatches) seems to be the focus.  We really don't have one with Coker or XL.  I have a feeling that Concepcion or Cooper are high on the board.  This tells me they are going to grab a WR early--probably in round 1. Linebacker is most obviously and certainly the second round pick.  Rodgriquez, Hill, or Golday. The fact that there is no contact with a Center is interesting, but there are guards.  Chase Bisontis is an interesting name that stands out.  Carver Willis is a short-armed OT that could be a swing T, G, or....C.  He is very good at run blocking.  OT?  If we are drafting a T early, they sure are keeping it close to the vest.  Visits do not mean interest--it could mean they want a closer look.  Still, No top OTs, No top Centers--what is going on?  This is going to be interesting. Safety--This is interesting because the talk is that Smiith-Wade might move to FS-but that does not explain why the CBs on this list are unimpressive.  The Safeties they have listed are day 2 players, fwiw, and both were 30 visits. Edge--bottom of the roster guys. If I were to guess, based on this, here is what I would wager:   There would be a high probability of a trade back from 19.  Watch a team moving up for bama QB Simpson. Round 1: WR--Concepcion and Cooper both project to late first rounders.  Both are perfect fits for the Z WR (the WR that is not on the line of scrimmage outside the TE)  We don't have that guy right now.   I think we think the offense opens up with a strong Z WR.  MHS Prediction:  Cooper. Round 2:  LB--Hill, Golday, and Rodriguez are second-rounders.  One of them will be a Panther.  If we trade back, we could move up for a S.  MHS Prediction:  Rodriguez. NOTE: Bisontis (C) and McDonald (DT) are wild cards--if either drop in round 2, we take them and move up back into the second for the LB.  If not, we draft the LB and move back up for Haulsy (S) so we have 4 starting-caliber players on days 1 and 2.   Day 3: TE (Delp is my guess), OT (Travis Burke is my guess), CB, and DT.
