We added a bunch of TE prospects on day 3.

7th round pick Sandland

UDFAs Bonnet and McGee

Tryout player Braxton Deaver

Definitely seem to be eyeing another developmental TE to replace Simonson and eventually Dickson, not sure I see any if them taking the second TE spot this year though.

Interesting....

With all the hoopla over Bradberry getting JNo's number 24, I'd missed this little tidbit:

TE Beau Sandlandicon-article-link.gif, No. 85

Only five Panthers have worn no. 85, but only one has worn it for more than a single season: tight end Wesley Walls. No active player has worn this number since Jamall Broussard in 2004.

Wesley Walls 2.0?

Yes please!

Won't pretend I was a Panthers' fan back then..., but from all I've learned in researching the team the past 2 - 3 years, it would be huge to get another TE who is anything like Walls!

Here's hoping #85 brings some great vibes.... history repeating itself.

    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
    • It is goofy how some people hate Bryce so much that they're flat out lying to try and remain entitled to their pessimism. It's insanity. Most fans are realists and eagerly awaiting the season to see if we get pre- or post-benching Bryce to start the season and how much he is able to do with some young and developing weapons. Many of us understand that these young guys are going to have growing pains on the job as well as the new defense, but the fans with all of the excuses for why Bryce can't be successful are pounding the no excuses drum. Personally, I'd prefer the Keep Pounding drum.
    • Just like we overpaid for Wharton.
