Has anyone noticed it's better to have GPS settings on wide? I usually keep mine on a pinpoint location. But my GF (she has an iPhone, I have HTC) uses a wider location range (not as pinpoint in accuracy) and she can check into places way before me and find Pokes before me.

Man this game got me outside and walking at lunch in uptown CLT today.  That's an amazing feat.  Too bad sun was too bright to see anything and my game kept freezing up though.  But hey

One thing I've read that seems like a good idea is to save all of your evolves until you have a lot of candy/pokemon to evolve and then use a Mysterious Egg to double exp gained while you evolve them. I'm saving up a ton of ratattas for that right now.

Yeah I should do that, but I have a bad habit of saving things, forever, on games.  lol.

am I the only one who's wondering what the long term end result of all of this? A bunch of gyms guarded by eleventy million point snorlaxes?

Here's what I've caught so far here in my small town...not many Pokestops around here so it's slow going. 

Rattata, Exeggcute, Venonat, Slowpoke, Psyduck, Krabby, Oddish, Doduo, Tangela, Pidgeotto, Kakuna, Goldeen, Caterpie, Magikarp, Eevee, Spearow, Nidoran, Squirtle, Raticate, Bulbasar, and Dratini. 

Never played Pokemon before this came out...oddly entertaining.

Also, when you catch multiple Pokes, transfer the lower rated ones to the Professor. You get candy for them and don't need them anyway.

6000 person meet up at millennium park in Chicago Saturday.  For this game.

I found an empty gym today and assigned my best Poke to it and for my team. Anyone else do this yet? It said if I lose a battle (from someone entering it and fighting me) I get my Poke back. But does anyone know how I can check on what's going on at the gym? Do I have to walk over there?

From what I can tell, you'll have to walk over there to access the gym. I haven't personally done it, but watching some people here in my town last night, they were sitting a block from the gym at a stop with a lure, and walked back to the gym just as it changed from Mystic control to Valor. 


Speaking of which, Valor is sweeping my area. I have a Pidgeot that I caught that I'm leveling, but these Valors here are throwing some SERIOUSLY big Pokes on gyms and it's terrifying. Literally 15 people near the courthouse right now, in the rain, playing with external battery packs. It's insane.

I came to Nerdvana hoping to find a thread for this game...was not disappointed. 

 

Started playing a couple days ago. Addicting is an understatement. Hoping they get the server issues worked out soon.

Tip that most probably know already: It is much easier to accurately throw Poke Balls and catch Pokemon when you use the generic background that helps to center them on your screen as opposed to the game accessing your camera. Theres a little toggle option in the top right corner of the screen when you're attempting to catch them.
