Just as I predicted.

This team must hit obsolute rock bottom (we will be 1-6 at some point) before we can start picking up the pieces and start getting some wins.

As I mentioned in a previous post this season will be like 2002 where we went like 0-6 and then came out in the second half of the SF game and went on a winning streak after that.

that was 2004, and they weren't 0-6. nice "prediction" tho. get the past right before trying to be a friggin fortune teller.

I wouldn't even be that pissed if we had the promise of a high first round draft pick for next year's draft. If we had that then I would expect a total cleaning of house, a new star QB, and a new coach.

Instead we are going to have to convince a coach to come takeover this team probably absent Julius Peppers, Jake Delhomme still as our only QB option, and without a first round draft pick.

This FO/coaching staff has managed to pick us up from to playoff-less seasons, blow it with the most talented Panthers team ever, and then send us back YEARS all in the matter of a year. Sweet Lord...

Maybe. Considering we always get cheated against Dallas.

Yep, the refs always have at least one major bullshit call against us when we play Dallas.

I remember the blocked field goal in 2005, that the refs cheated us out of. They claimed that the ball wasn't touched, and it resulted in a first down for roughing the kicker (which can't be called if the ball is blocked). This, despite the fact that the ball completely changed direction, and they even viewed the replay that showed it touching Peppers' hand.

Damn people you would think we are cincinnati or st louis... Look at the Patriots loosing today to a rookie QB... you think everyone is bailing on them... you all crack me up. Do you even remember the seifret years??? I mean really??? This is not as bad as we have had it!

Seifert years: 8-8, 7-9. 1-15

We've had an 8-8 and 7-9 under Fox and we're well on our way to a season that will approach that 1-15 season if they don't get things corrected on defense.

And how freaking sad is it that you think we should be happy with Fox so long as things aren't as bad as they were in 2001. Newsflash: The 2001 Panthers were one of the worst teams in history. You're likely to go a generation without seeing another Panther team as bad as they were.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
