Pellet Grill/Smoker

Recommended Posts

I love smoking pork butts, briskets and etc...  I used Weber bullet for the past year or so but decided I need an addition.  My family loves getting together for lunch so it's been rough smoking meat for 12-15 hours (I would start at 10pm the night before).  So I researched and discovered pellet grill/smoker... So instead of me waking up every 1-2 hours to adjust the temp, these smokers adjust their own temp... Does anyone own one?

I consider it cheating, but I definitely know about the time dedication, especially with brisket.  Smoking one this weekend.

To have a great BBQ requires 2 things...  Low heat and smoke.  Pellet Smokers replace human labor and nurturing.  You can still have an amazing BBQ with a great night of sleep.

He's shared his brisket with me, it's pretty dayum good.

That being said, l consider it a labor of love, for the 4 hours the meat is on the grill.  By then, your smoke ring is done.  Pull it, wrap it in foil (twice) and finish in the oven.

Taking it a step further, depending on how you want to serve your brisket.....

After gettung the meat where you want it as far as doneness, chop it, put it in a pan(s),  add your bbq sauce, stick back in oven at 200 for an additional 30-45 mins.

Unless you have the 12-14 hours to devote to a proper smoking, I don't consider it cheating. The time spent with kids and family is better spent than hovering over a piece of meat, especially when the difference is going to be minimal. Timers work very well as long as you get a reliable one.

Enjoy your butt and remember to lick your fingers.

Do it.  I have used both traditional and automated.  I just don't have the time for traditional.

Were we out camping or something like that....maybe, but I'm just not interested in being dog ass tired the next day because I had to get up every 2 hours throughout the night...I struggle to sleep anyway.

Yea, I think I'm going to buy Rec Tec.  Looks like an amazing bang for the buck with thick steel and 6 year warranty.  You can also use it as grill compared to other smokers that only do temps to 400*

    • Teams do some super stupid stuff with mid-fairly good QBs. I think they are just absolutely terrified they will be stuck with a QB that is not the quality of the QB they have now, even if its someone like Daniel Jones. Lots of trash QBs go in the first round. I encourage you to take a look at the sad, sad list of first round QBs in the last 15 years.
    • No, it will be a raw 6'7" 17-year-old European who just played basketball for the first time in March and who the idiot GM "had first on our board." He'll play the whole G-League season, get in 42 games for the Hornets and average 1.1 ppg on 35% shooting. Been there, seen that.
    • We missed on Burns at his peak value. That’s the problem with trading for picks 2-3 years away (which people were convinced the Rams would suck by now and these would be higher picks btw). Each year away the pick is the further in value it drops. Fitt was clearly hired based on turning us around quickly. It’s one of the many reasons tanking isn’t really a thing as our player JJ is telling you in this original article. It would take the whole organization from the owners down admitting they aren’t winning soon with Burns and picks 2-3 years away having more value because that’s when we are still rebuilding. It would only make sense if Fitt had a longer leash and would more than likely be the ones making these picks anyway which you wouldn’t want. The question is would you rather have those Rams picks with the strong possibility of Fitt still being here or would you rather Fitt try to “win now” like he did and expedite his firing? Altering the timeline would affect more than just the Rams picks.
