I think it's safe to say this is the first time in Coleman's career he's had the same defensive coordinator for consecutive years

LOL.

Actually, I do think this is pretty significant.  Folks expecting Coleman to regress may be disappointed.  This kind of coaching & player continuity combination for a championship team is rare, I believe, and a pretty big deal.

I laughed too when reading the comments by Kurt that several of his interceptions came at SS last year.  So.... so much for those who are expecting Coleman to all of a sudden play badly because of the position switch.

  1. Kurt Coleman: "We don't have a lot of superstars (in the secondary). But we've got a lot of guys that are willing to work."

    More
  2.

Coleman: "Everyone is counting us out in the back end. I'm excited because we're going to turn some heads."

I just love Kurt's attitude.

We've seen him live up to these words last year when no one expected him to be much more than a ST player and then all of a sudden he fights his way into a starting role with his incredible play in the preseason.  Kurt exemplifies "willing to work" - what a GREAT role model for our rookie DBs.

let me add that Tre Boston had at least 3 different head coaches and 3 different DC's in college. There is room for continued growth with him.

my favorite pic from last season was Igo's pic of Kurt with the blood all over his nose.  Of course he went back in the game.  Then I knew that man was an NFL player.

Someone much smarter than I pointed this out in another post I read this week. I forget the person and the thread, but it goth me thinking and looking at some film. Kurt won't be out of place at SS.

    • Rags lost again. All is right in the hockey world.
    • He’s responsible for two drafts classes. The first was one of the worst drafts I’ve ever seem. The second one is showing a ton of promise. I’m somewhere between skeptical and hopeful on Morgan.
    • I'm a big fan of Dan. His ability to find productive players deep in the draft will pay off.  I'm going to give him 1.5 draft classes right now, because I do think it's a little unfair to evaluate his first year when he got the job in January, especially when we went into that draft not having a first round pick.  XL and Brooks are still big time TBD players. Both still have incredibly high ceilings, but both have also given us legitimate reasons to have a lot of pause. Trevin Wallace, Chau Smith Wade and Jatavion Sanders have IMO outplayed their draft position early in their careers. That's a great thing. He also got Coker and Demani Richardson as UDFAs that year. Given the situation we were in, I really don't mind the gamble on the high ceiling guys. Still may work out, still may not, but if you made a checklist of ideal situation for an NFL GM to walk into, ours was near the bottom of that list.  Every single 2025 pick is contributing in some way. That typically doesn't happen. I am absolutely blown away by this draft class 6 games in. Even the best GM's miss on occasion, and we can't expect Dan to be 100% on drafts moving forward. Ryan Fitzgerald was an excellent find as well.  Comparing our last two drafts to the previous few is pretty shocking. Can you imagine this season without our Rookies? It would not be good. Additionally, this roster only has 6 players with more than 6 years of experience, and two of those are specialist.  The next step is equally important, and still very much TBD. We have to avoid Cap Chaos.
