    • Damiere Byrd

I think Byrd's speed forces defenses to account for him

He's quicker than Bersin too, which makes a difference in getting open. If he can stay solid in the return game, I think that also gives him an edge.

For this season, I choose Bersin. For the future, I choose Byrd. Bersin is sure handed, but he's at his ceiling already. Byrd has potential to progress to at least as good as Ginn, which would be rather nice to have in a few seasons.

We already got the better version of Byrd in Ginn and Brown. I think Bersin serves as a poor mans Wes Welker.

Neither Ginn or Brown have Byrd's elite speed. Brown isn't as shifty or as quick, and Ginn, though faster than most, has always had oven mitts for hands. No way I believe that we've seen or experienced the "better version."

Edit: Bersin is more like the poor man's Jerricho Cothcery when Cotchery was at his best. Welker was a relatively small, quick possession receiver. Bersin, bigger and slower.

I think it's debatable whether Ginn or Byrd is faster. Both have posted a 4.28, although Byrd's time is fresher. Brown is fast enough, and went from leaky hands in preseason to sure handed regular season. I hope they keep 6 receivers, or at least let #6 stick on the PS in case of injury. Plus, we all seem to be writing Hill off at this point, and I'm not sure that point has arrived yet, despite his gimpy leg and some drops. But it's all about 'what have you done for me lately', and that would be this morning's practice. Tomorrow another player will be a lock, and another will all of a sudden be a sure cut.

I would like to see the foot race. Byrd has younger legs, and posted his time on grass which is more amazing.

I think we are overlooking Hill and Norwood to a certain degree. I will just accept whatever the brass decides, though I am concerned about the acceptance of another guy with oven mitts on our 53. We all know that Ginn's here mainly due to his speed. Are Hill's exceptional measurables enough to justify a roster spot? It seems like enough meat was left on the bone last season, that they'd be loath to accept what is essentially becoming the status quo. If only Bersin were more dynamic with the ball in his hands, could bully DBs, or was simply faster, but he's not, so...he'll likely always be a bubble guy.

Time is getting shorter, so we'll have our answers relatively soon.

    • We don't have to tear down Dak to appreciate what Bryce did yesterday. Dak had 0 running game. If the cowboys were better, he'd be a legit MVP candidate if he keeps playing this way.  They did it with Ceedee last year, but they do a better job of anybody we play consistently of getting their best receiver off Jaycee.  Bryce was good too. If we just catch the ball that was intercepted, we probably win by 7+, and Bryce goes over 200 yards passing.  Biggest shift the last few weeks has been play calling. I thought Canales abandoned the run game way to early at times last year. This year he really seems to be sticking with it.  I still think Chuba is better at making 4 yards when there's nothing there, but Rico is better at making 30 yards when there's 6 there. I like the direction. Hopefully we can get Moton, Sanders and Coker back and really be dangerous. Our play action game is pretty deadly right now.  Unrelated: My favorite quality about Bryce right now is his ability to see the defensive hold and throw the ball there. He EXPOSES the officials when they don't call it. That one on Tetaroia yesterday late in the game was a bad miss on their part.
    • That sacks allowed number lookin juicy!
    • This is a game the Panthers should win... just the sort of game they lose. The Panthers have a bad habit that goes back years of playing down to the competition's level only to mess around and lose the game. The Jets game should be taken very seriously! But I want to enjoy the fact that they beat the Cowboys for at least another day or so!
