If Funchess isn't good, then neither is Benjamin.

Indefensible position.

In 22 NFL games, Funchess has 38 catches for 585 yards and 7 TD. He's averaging less than 2 catches and 26 yards per game.

In the same number of career games, KB has 102 catches for 1402 and 13 TDs. That's almost 5 catches for over 63 yards per game.

The difference isn't all bout targets either. Funchess only converts about 46% of his targets into completions. That percentage is 52% for KB.

KB is just much better at football than Funchess.

Benji got most of those stats at garbage time. When the game is on the line, he drops passes just like Funchess does. The difference here is that Funchess at least makes clutch plays. Benjamin, on the other hand, kills momentum.

Good god.

Yes, KB drops too many easy passes. He needs to improve on that. Funchess has the same flaws with a third of the production and none of the highlight reel catches.

Let me just put it like this, every team in the league would have KB on their roster. Every single one. The same is absolutely not true of Funchess. He plays in one of the thinner WR corps in the league and has done hardly anything. We're not far from discussing the potential of him being that B word.

LOL what are you even looking at when you watch these games?

1. It's "couldn't" care less

2. All Benji does is make big time plays. So far this year we've seen Devin stumble along the sidelines and fail to get 2 feet in, slip out of breaks, try for the one handed catch when he needed two, dropped a gimmie on 3rd down on Sunday and so far has failed to earn the trust of the QB's.

There's a reason why Newton AND Anderson look KB's way when they need a big play and not Devin's. Only reason why Devin was even in for that TD catch Sunday was because KB sat the play out after being blindsided

It is interesting, he just has to continue to work. I see the talent

He is in his second year.. rarely are there ever wr's who turn into stars in their second year.. I mean look at dez bryant it took him 3 seasons before he had a breakout year.

If it wasn't for all of the preseason hyping, most on this forum would've already accepted that Funchess isn't a very good NFL WR. I think most honestly do, they're just living in denial.

It seemed like towards the end of the game Funchess was coming up pretty clutch to me. One of the "drops" was when Cam threw to him in double coverage

He has his moments, they're just few and far between.

Y'all be honest now, what would you be thinking and saying about Funchess if Igo didn't spend half the off season and preseason telling you all about how great this guy was gonna be?

He's just not that good. He's still young and hopefully he'll improve and get more consistent, but he basically looks like Kony Ealy the WR IMO. Gentleman has been pulling some Hurneys in the 2nd round after nabbing Short.

I dunno, I honestly think he looks like he is on the brink of breaking out. When he gets in a rhythm he can do some damage. I mean take into account the pass interference yards against NO and he had nearly 100 yards impact on the game. They obviously couldn't cover him towards the end

While funchess does have some pretty bad drops.. he still did get 2 touchdowns and converted a 2 pt play.. which is to say is a hell a lot better than what ealy has ever done this season.. so that comparison is not a good one.

I meant in terms of consistency, or rather lack there of.

Ealy did have a dominant Super Bowl performance which trumps anything Funchess has ever done.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
