They don't have the cap room to go out and sign any quality free agents anyways, otherwise they'd have just put the money towards Collins and Chandler Jones before trading him. They're contenders this year and let their best defensive player go for literally nothing.

lol the Patriots "don't have the cap" every year and it has no affect on the way they do business.

That's not really true at all. They've never been amazing in the draft before but in the recent few years they've drafted a lot of very good players that all have contracts coming up at around the same time. Got rid of two of them already in Jones and Collins but still have guys like Hightower and Butler who are going to demand big contracts. And if that is true then letting Jamie Collins walk in FA and getting a 3rd round comp pick for him wouldn't have any effect on how they do business.

I have no idea what point you're trying to make here. You've just stated they were in the same situation we were and didn't choose to put reupping off for a couple years. That's exactly my point.

They weren't in the same position, if you're referring to what we did with Josh. Josh was taking up $15M or whatever the number was on the cap which affected our ability to keep some of our guys long term. Collins is making 2nd rounder draft scale in the last year of his rookie deal. There was literally no upside to trading him this year vs. letting him walk after the year, that's my point.

I'm sorry.  Did the team winning yesterday piss you off?

No, I was actually at my buddy's house watching the game happy as Hell.  I think it's stupid if they gave you mod rights though.  You have done nothing realistic to deserve those.  Besides be old and self proclaim yourself a "football historian."

I'm sure.

This thread being moved did you a service though. It gave you your favorite thing in the world, something that was denied you by the team winning the game yesterday.

It gave you something to b--ch about.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
