One Particular Cam Play That Shows He Still Is A Dangerous Runner

Never seen anyone really talk about this one particular play Cam did a while back, but I want to bring it up today.

Against San Diego on this one particular play, Cam ran for a gain of 5 yards.

That's what it says on paper. Doesn't seem like much at first sight, does it?

Well, let's see exactly what this 5 yard run looked like.

First of all, this was supposed to be a huge sack for a huge loss. The O-Line crumbled, and Cam Newton was pushed all the way back to as far as the 29 yard line from the 10 yard line. This should've ended up as a 3rd and 29 to the goal line, likely ending with at best a field goal.

Then Cam Newton, while being pursued by angry defenders, begins to run. He avoids around 2 defenders in hot pursuit of him, jukes out another, and runs and leaps to the 5 yard line, with help from a nice block from Remmers.

This play would lead to a nice touchdown grab by Funchess.

For those of you who think Cam doesn't run anymore, you better watch out. Letting him loose will be your ultimate mistake.

I think his quest in not being considered 1 dimensional, he does't scramble as much as he used to.  You used to see at least 1 play like that every game.  He still does the same amount of designed run plays, you just don't see many scrambles anymore.

I think when he does scramble decisively, that puts the fear of God in defenses.  When he truly commits to running, he is agile and fast.  When he is not committed to scrambling, he is slow and catch able.

I think once a year, just to put in in the defenses heads he needs to scramble 8-10 times.  Defensive ends used to play more of a contain on the rush.  Since the Denver game, they are pinned back because he they know he doesn't want to scramble, he wants to pass.

In that play, he had enough time to recognize the lineman getting free and had the space to get away. Unfortunately, Cam has also gotten sacked in other occasions and it cost us field goal opportunities.

Cam should have the option to scramble although I'd rather have him go laterally or shoot through gaps along the sides. Obviously, it would help if the pocket could hold better than it is now. Much easier if you only have to escape one defender rather than multiple.

    • I'm not worked up about this but I had a little beef with his reporting or whatever it is, and can’t remember specifically what it was. A year or so ago maybe. It was something about Wilks or maybe Reich, but I thought the way he presented it was pretty slanted and I disagreed with the facts as he presented them, more or less. I believe it was an audio spot with FNZ. I took note that this guy was maybe all about some kind of agenda to be distorting the reality to make a story more appealing.
    • That’s not funny. That’s people who watched Kenny Pickett play.
    • Rich people who collect Health are indeed a surprising type of leaders. It's so exciting to see it but I have no doubt that this is clear enough. Where can rookies scare up striking Health recipes? I'm working on it at this time. This would be friggin' stupid if it freaked out others. Take this information very seriously. I still hadn't found anyone to tell me with respect to this sticky situation.   https://groups.google.com/g/actiflow-prostate-health/c/3csTfO4T70g https://ocsheriff.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/5837affc-861d-ef11-a295-001dd804e445 https://bhaprod.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/6f1364f6-861d-ef11-a295-001dd80948b1 https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/chromium-reviews/c/k6H8LBL14zY https://groups.google.com/g/synogut-price/c/gk7Vuy_kDR0 https://ocsheriff.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/590538e2-881d-ef11-a295-001dd804e445 https://bhaprod.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/387bb1e3-881d-ef11-a295-001dd80948b1 https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/chromium-reviews/c/lnNwUSvAjwk https://groups.google.com/g/kerassentials-cost/c/5SLLeAVxU74 https://ocsheriff.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/e1d45d45-8a1d-ef11-a295-001dd804e445 https://bhaprod.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/a1266d43-8a1d-ef11-a295-001dd80948b1 https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/chromium-reviews/c/gVH8Ltoz_4Q  https://groups.google.com/g/pineal-guardian-brain-support/c/DRkldCEbe3w https://ocsheriff.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/e24acabb-7c1d-ef11-a295-001dd804e445 https://bhaprod.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/cecad6bd-7c1d-ef11-a295-001dd80948b1 https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/chromium-reviews/c/dnrUDyelUG8 https://groups.google.com/g/gutoptim-review/c/NYvnYEUQV4w https://ocsheriff.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/09b1fdad-8d1d-ef11-a295-001dd804e445 https://bhaprod.dynamics365portals.us/forums/support-forum/9381c5ae-8d1d-ef11-a295-001dd80948b1 https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/chromium-reviews/c/_LRPsonxaPk
