In SC, Charleston is the only place I would look, but it's damn expensive, and since you aren't "from there" you will struggle to fit in.

Greenville SC is not bad, a little more progressive than most of SC.  Half way between Charlotte and Atlanta.  Booming business environment.

But besides that, the only other good things in South Carolina are fireworks and cheap gas.

Thanks LP! But how do I go about applying for jobs? Do they do phone interviews? That's what I'm most worried about is actually going about applying to get these jobs. It's not like I'm some hot shot executive that a company would go after.

You should look for jobs in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Raleigh, Durham and Charlotte with local television stations that need someone with your skills. The media markets here are pretty competitive.

Also, look at home prices in the region. In the cities, prices are good with a steady market, in the neighboring towns the prices are just wonderful compared to Yankeeland.

And culture shock isn't going to be a problem if you can remember one important thing: We really don't care how you did it back home... if it was so good, you wouldn't have left. Really, this one is majorly important.

If this has already been said my bad but Greeneville SC is a nice spot.  90 mins between Atl and Char and close to the mtns and quick drive to the coast. You are close to so many places under 2 hrs its not funny. Great little downtown and art and music scene.

Make checks payable to pstall, that's 2 L's..

Raleigh/Durham area is great for jobs. Research Triangle Park is a hotspot for bio and tech companies (perhaps of interest). The area continually pops up on lists of best places to live with companies like SAS and Redhat which are some of the top sought after employers.

We had a pretty nice apartment in Morrisville (RTP) in 2010 2 bedroom for like $800/mo. Probably a bit pricier now.  We live in Raleigh now and love it.
