The Chargers became a rare NFL franchise that no one wanted. San Diego leaders and citizens made clear they wouldn't pay (enough) for a new stadium. And a year after the Rams moved to Los Angeles, no one there was clamoring for a second team. The better economic deal between the two imperfect options is LA. The Chargers are a business and apparently will act like one. Per Adam Schefter, they will move to Los Angeles.

The Chargers are expected to announce as early as Thursday that they plan to leave San Diego for Los Angeles in 2017, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. I spoke with Rams COO Kevin Demoff about the possibility of a second team in the market a couple weeks ago. Here's part of what he said: "If we do our job correctly, a second team should only heighten the NFL excitement in the marketplace and build on it. I don't think it takes away. I think it just enhances it. But it's still dependent on -- you have to be playing winning football, you have to be exciting, you have to make your brand entertaining and relevant. I think that's true whether you're the only team in the market or whether there are two or three teams in the market."

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
