"Shop Intelligently," as Gettleman puts it: One guy we could make happen. One we should make happen.

I do like Jusczcyk at FB and if we can't sign him, there's also James Develin up in New England that I really like.

I don't like Vollmer because I think he's more of a RT than a LT. Throw in an entire year on IR for a hip injury and I'm more scared. Sucks, because he is a top RT when healthy, but bad hips on an OL isn't a good thing.

Riley Reiff is the only OL in the FA class that I would kick the tires on... good mention top dawg.  Reiff, a former R1 pick, came in as a LT and graciously moved over to RT recently, and excelled.  Carolina loves flexibility in its' players, so Reiff (only 28 years old) could solve a problem.  Pref him at LT and give Williams a shot at RT, but wherever he can play at his best along with our nasty interior 3 guys, I'm good with.

Pie.  This is my line of thinking as well.

An effective mid-tier FA group would be ideal.  We don't need to be bottom feeders but it's obvious DG will try to be smart.

FB-Develin, check

RT/LT-Reiff, check

And my wildcard who may get flack but is 24, quick, and just had 9 touchdowns in Miami: Kenny Stills

Squeeze in a DE FA and then go into the draft comfortable.

Stills is my pick as well if we pass on DJax. Less money, younger, though not as talented, IMO.  But Stills, outside of his horrendous drop against SEA, is a reliable option that I think would flourish with Cam, and provide us a deep speedy threat. Nice thought!

Gettleman, you fat ugly old dinosaur. You expected us back in the SB but were too stupid to realize going there is not a guarantee and you did nothing last offseason. Now if the Falcons win the SB, we will be trailing everyone else in our division in SB wins. You better do your job this offseason. You have a lot to prove or else you should be gone.

I started to say that it's the time of year when I play armchair football exec and focus on making the Panthers better, but honestly my mind is constantly thinking of ways to improve the Panthers---all times of year---particularly in a way that fits in with GM Dave Gettleman's philosophy. I suppose that's a cross to bear of a pro football fanatic who probably spends way too much time and energy supporting things Panthers without getting paid for it. But the Panthers are in my blood, which is probably electric blue or Panther blue---whatever you want to call it---so what am I gonna do? Go Panthers! Anyway...

    • Got to give some credit to the coaching staff on these. You can grab top talents but without good coaching, they just fizzle out. We've seen that a lot around here.
    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
