We just traded Hibbert and Hawes for Miles Plumlee

This is a weird move because I cannot tell if this is us going into tank mode OR some deranged move that the front office actually believes we just got better?

I guess it is the later because it doesn't help us Cap-wise.. he has 4 years remaining and Hibbert was on a 1 yr "Show Me" deal.. and Hawes was 2 yrs away from being gone.. I guess they figured Hibbert was damaged goods and couldn't put 2 games together..

Plumlee did have some pretty good years in Phoenix, but has been a complete ZERO with the Bucks.. maybe they are thinking he can revitalize his career here..

all i know is if this is it - our front office better start packing their bags come the end of the season..

How is getting rid of Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes going into tank mode, exactly?

i don't think it is.. i said it was probably the later thought that our FO thinks this is a good move - but i don't see this as us getting better.. I'm in a wait-and-see (sulk) mode

This trade seems like a bandaid move to me at first glance. Clearly Roy and Spencer don't fit us or really provide any positive impact to our roster. They definitely cannot adequately fill in for Zeller while he's out.

Miles Plumlee is athletic if anything and can rebound the ball with the best of them. Important traits. Not sure how he is with pick and roll offense though so I'll be interested to see that.

This move does leave us with 2 open roster spots so my guess is that this move is purely to set up another move that's forthcoming. We did need to do something as this team is reeling and the deadline is still 3 weeks out.

I'm not a fan of owing Miles $12.5 per over the next 3.5 seasons though.

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
